Who decides what comics are part of this? I wonder because Marvel and DC seem to be absent from the list.

It's up to the comic book companies wether or not they want to produce comics for FCBD. It's also up to the retailer on which comics they order, but they are usually sold in bundles so if you want Superman you have to get Archie too. At least this is how it was done in previous years. DC is present in the above, Supes is DC and always will be. I'll be amazed if there isn't a Spiderman or Xmen, and I predict a Wolverine to tie in to the movie. Free www.freecomicbookday.com/ should have more info. I just took a quick look and there is indeed an X-Men offering.

Pretty sure that falls under these two quotes:
"Here is a list of some of the FCBD comics Available:" > note Some
"There are more. I'll post as I get confirmations of what is coming."
If you go to freecomicbookday.com they list all of the comics avaliable. What I wish more local retailers would do is put on other offers to coincide with FCBD. The first FCBD we were lucky enough to be in Toronto. Pretty much every shop we went into gave away a bag off comics. One of the FCBD comics and then 3-4 old back issues that the store had been sitting on way too long. Other stores had all back issues half price, or a few boxes of 10cent comics. We went into one store and it was 10 comics for a buck, I'm pretty sure we dropped $10 and walked out with 100 comics that day. Basically all the stores there took the chance to get rid of some old stock, and really tried to use the increased traffic FCBD generated to get people to come back to their stores.

Stopped in today and got a ton of comics. Ian, Dwayne and whoever the guy helping them (sorry I didn't get a name) were very cool about everything. Besides letting us take more then one comic each (as seems to be the usual practice for some local shops) they also had some good deals going on, and were more then willing to shoot the 'excrement' with anyone who came in.
Glad we stopped by. Plus see my other recent post, that I'm supprised Ian didn't post himself.
