Is it just me, or should it not be mindbogglingly difficult to find and purchase for less than an ungodly sum something with such simple requirements as this:
A wall mountable thin bodied stereo/CD player with MP3 CD/R CD/RW capabilities. A stereo tuner would be nice, but not mandatory...
So far I've found 1... Sears has it (floor model) for about 250, sears 'ultra cheap discount outlet' has it for 230 a whole 8% cheaper... WOW and both models were damaged/worn, the cheaper one obviously much more so.. in fact probably about 40 dollars more worn..
the only other wall mountable stereos I've found had no MP3 capabilities..
(One nice comment about The Source here, the guy in the store hopped onto a computer and burnt me an MP3 CD to check a couple of stereos they had in stock, then gave me the CD so I could more easily check when they didn't have any that fit my needs)

I concur.
I have been having trouble just finding wall mounted Stereos, let alone ones with MP3s. I wanted one very badly for our front room at one time.
I have my new plant thought that removed the need for the wall mount.
Wireless speakers - who neesd the Stereo that plays MP3s when you can play them from the source (the PC they are on). Sets of these I have found for $150 or more.
What I really want is a set of Outdoor wireless speakers - so we can have them in the front room for music while working about the house/reading/relaxing etc. and then when wishing some outdoor pleasures just pick them up and toss them on the deck.

well I have a source for all sorts of wireless and cool (even outdoor) speakers here in toronto (bay bloor audio) but I can't afford to shop there.. they would probably even have exacly what I needed and install it for me.. for the price of a new mortgage..

If I was getting with the times I'd by a media center PC and wireless route all my media from my PC to various base stations and speakers through out the house..

Or wait until Christmas and use the Xbox 360's media center capabilities, and combine your music listening experience with the latest the video gaming industry has to offer. Actually cheaper way to do almost that is pick up the Linsys (sp) wireless media adapter. Its cheap enough and supposedly lets you transfer media wirelessly from PC to whatever sound/video system you have. Been very tempted to check this out but just not too sure how it works and how well. Or you can check out the next evolution in that concept: www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,116676,00.asp It it wasn't for the price I think I would definately consider one of those. Speakers, library, playlist, wifi, hmm not bad at all.

Actually I think I saw a D-Link one but it was around $299 I think. Looked to be about the size of a dvd player.

I'm just really not impessed wih the options those devices give you.. plus you have to buy MORE devices to make it all work.. I just want a radio, and a CD player that also plays MP3 CD's.. it shouldn't be that hard... (wall mountable seems more the problem)

Only place I have seen them is Best Buy.
I have a feeling they may have been dropped from the market for some reason.
I know my Aunt has one and loves it but I know her's got dropped at least once (storm I think). If I see anything though I will let you know.
