Got to try this on recently, have to say that i had a really good time playing it. It plays max 4 and you basically run around the states smashing cites becoming famous and mutating in preporation for the big monster brawl at the end of the game. each person plays one monster and a branch of the government(all of which are different). all and all lots of fun ........ www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=ah/prod/monsmenamer

That one looked pretty sweet, almost picked it up in Ottawa, went with Puerto Rico instead.
Wizards and AH are pumping games out like mad anymore.

Yeah seems like they are taking after the "European" boardgames, the Alea 9, Catan and the such.
Good think in my opinion as well.
Can't stand a game where are you basically do is role a die and move a guy.

Actually just played:
Star Wars Life: A Jedi's Path the other day. It's better then I remembered, actually a bit fun.
I like 'traditional' games now and then but usually prefer the more strategic games.

Last time I played that was a Birthday party that ended at Phog, I was so drunk I couldn't even play connect 4, though we tried.

Okay sorry for the delay on this one.
Yes Talisman's basic gameplay mechanic is roll a die and move a guy, but there is so much more then that. First off when you roll you get a choice of two ways to go, this alone puts it miles above probably hundreds of traditional boardgames (except life, where you get a choice every now and then). Where the game really shines though is when you hit squares like the City, where you get a choice of buying a variety of gear (all players choice), visiting a mage with random occurances, or just healing up. Add to that some of the gear that lets you move 1-3 more squares and you have even more options each move. Plus all the character special abilities.
Didn't you ever think Monopoly would be so much better if I could decide to go backwards, or if the boot had the ability, land on Park Place and pay no rent?
