wow great game.....
had the chance to play this one 3 different times in the last week, and had a great time all 3.
game plays 3 - 6 players, 12 different characters to choose from ranging from a child to a scientist to a jock...
each has 4 stats speed, might , sanity and knowledge.
the story goes that you play a group of friends(a very diverse group but oh well) that decide to explore this creepy old house. as everyone enters the house the door slams shut and locks behind you.
now all players are standing in the main hall, 2 doors on your left 2 on your right with a stair case straight ahead. of course the house is completly haunted so weird shit happens around every bend. So off everyone goes drawing tiles exploring rooms encountering events items and omens. omens are the important ones, eveytime one is drawn that person makes what is called a haunt roll, the roll gets more and more difficult eveytime you draw a card, as soon as a haunt roll is failed thats where things really get crazy.
you see one of the 3 - 6 plays is actualy a traitor which is determined by the game when the haunt is rolled, you quickly check a chart and see what card coresponds to what room that tells you who the bad guy is and what exactly his nefarious plot is, this is the point in the game where you take a small break.
the traitor grabs what called the traitor guide and leaves the room the remaining players grab the survival guide and begin to plot a strategy against them. both partyies have specific goals to accomplish that the other side may or may not know. the great thing is that there are 50 different scenarios to play out , that added to the fact that the house is different evey time you play gives tonnes of replay value to this game.
My only concern so far is that in all 3 games we played the traitor was victorious, although the last game was really really close.....
but overall great game, well thought out and beautifully designed.....
