Quickly: way better then the first, still way out and still tons of fun.
Summary: the second Katamari Damacy game is way better then the first. It takes the same basic game and expands on it with tons of new modes. You play the price or one of his cousins walking around a surreal world talking to fans of the original game and creating Katamari's of thier requests. There is also a new two player mode.
The good: it's Katamari - one of the most odd and fun games ever. It's got new modes. Things like flaming Katamari, where you are on fire and have to roll up big enough to light a camp fire. Or sumo Katamari where you play a sumo wrestler and roll up food to get big enough to win your match. Okay really it's not too different you still roll around and pick things up but some how this makes it more fun. The snowman level was awesomely fun. The two player modes, are fun, though I prefered the co-op to the battle.
The bad: still a bit shortish. Though really probably 10* longer then the first game, this one still won't take you long to have at least seen ever level. Now getting the top score of each will take you a damn long time. For some dumb reason you can see the end of the game before you have even finished it (you get a chance to roll up the sun, if you do it the King states, well we can't top that so we might as well give you the credits now).
The ugly: This game can get frustrating at times. Some levels are deviously hard to get a perfect score. This game is still way far out there, and very messed up, this could turn some people off. The fans. The people you need to talk to get to get missions when wanting your attention call out to you. This can get really annoying hearing someone say 'origami' over and over. The music! No it's not bad, but even just typing this I know I will have the damned Katamari song stuck in my head all day.
Overall: this is a great game. Good for all types of gamers as it has a pretty universal appeal. Tons of fun, very addictive and with the new two player mode better for a party (actually the levels are quick and passing off works well as well). At least rent this one. It's also value priced so easy to find cheap.
