Okay, overall I've been sorely dissapointed by Digital life this year, but I have picked up one addiction that could get expensive if they ever installed one in toronto and I found out about it.
Big Buck Hunter Pro, not currently installed anywhere in Canada, the number 1 bar game in the US.
Basics: Not Surprising this is a hunting game, a new version of the old Big Buck hunter, one of the biggest additions is a second gun so you can go head to head with an opponent rather than just playing gun trading multi-player (which is still avaliable.)
Essentially you have to go hunting with a pump shotgun. You have to reload every shot but have unlimited ammo, there are various levels which determine which the type of animal you're hunting is, but you always have to kill the males and NOT shoot the females.
Details: The guns: Very cool and unless you think you're going to rely on the gun sight, reproducably accurate, after talking with the sales rep and playing it A LOT myself, it seems the pump action portion is not something that would break anytime soon even under heavy bar use.
Graphics: Pretty much on par with what I expect in arcades, loosely 3d with decent motion rain at times, moving scenics but focussed obviously on the animals.
The animals: the main Catagories are Deer, Elk, Big horn Deer, Moose and Caribou, as well each screen has 'critters' which are all good to shoot and can make a HUGE difference in your score, this morning I had three bucks to the salesman's 1 but he nearly doubled my score do to skilled critter shooting.
Also there are bonus levels at the end of each section which vary from your standard duck hunt, to shooting sliding beer ala Tapper and all points inbetween, the most disturbing being the flying cowpaddys, where two cows grunt and smile, shooting clusters of cow paddys up into the air for you to shoot.
The Good: Hopelessly addictive, I literally saw a woman who was complaining about how violent it was pick up the gun her self and then proceed to trounce her kid soundly while denying she ever said such things about the game. I sneak in early every morning just to get some more playtime before the show opens.
The Bad: If I were playing this in an acrcade I think I'd have spent smewhere in the area of $75 so far, but then I don't get to arcades much so I suppose it's probably on par with most such games.
Results: You might think it silly when you see it, but put your change in and soon you'll understand. 5 for 5
