OK normally I wouldn't rate a demo for an Xbox live arcade game, but this was something that when announced made me really want a 360.
Quickly: crap, reminds me of that Atari tank hunting game.
[glow=blue,2,300]Summary:[/glow] The first Wing Commander game in years. This time around battle with up to 16 other players on Xbox Live. Take control of either Alliance or Kilrathis Ships. Many ships to choose from. New power up system. Can you conquer the Arena?
In reality a top down button masher, where you fly your ship (tiny pixelated coloured thing) around a beautiful map painting background, in only 2 dimensions, and try to shoot up the other guys before they shoot you. You can collect power ups like rapid shot and more missiles to make it more interesting. It's played death match style, with most kills over a set time winning.
[glow=green,2,300]The Good:[/glow]There is a demo you can download on Xbox live, so you can try the game first and find out it sucks before buying it.
[glow=yellow,2,300]The Bad:[/glow]They ruined the Wing Commander name. They could have just called it Giant Space Battle and I would have been much happier.
[glow=red,2,300]The Ugly[/glow]The graphics, the sound, the presentation and the game play. Don't think I missed anything there. Seriously this is bad due to being called Wing Commander. It reminds me of a ship battle mini game from something like Mario Party, or like mentioned in the quickly, like that old Atari game where you each played a tank and tried to shoot the other guy first. There's nothing new here, nothing ground breaking, it's just a cheesy death match, top down shoot em up. Which really with 16 players, playing online wouldn't be that bad but why make it Wing Commander. Wing Commander is a 3d pace combat game, not a glorified multi-player galaga.
[glow=purple,2,300]Overall:[/glow] a pretty generic and boring shooter that does nothing for me but piss me off. It pisses me off by using the name of my all time favorite 3d space combat Sim for a glorified Atari Tank Battle. I was very very disappointed. I don't see why anyone on xbox live wouldn't download it and try it for themselves though, as it's free, but personally I didn't even keep the demo on my HD.
