We recently got out hands on a classic Atari 7800 and a bunch of games. We were told that they system is in working order.
Everything is in great shape but we ran into a problem when we tried to hook the system up. The cable that comes with looks like a standard RCA cable. I tried to plug this into your standard yellow video in and got nothing.
At first I thought the system may be broken but decided to check the Web. After a short search I found that the system ships with an RCA cable that transmits both the audio and visual, on the same cable. I don't remember ever hearing of such a thing, but then this is an old system. The same search also told me that the best solution for modern TVs is to get a RCA to Coax adapter. It also noted they were $5 at Radio Shack (shows how old the article was).
Unfortunately The Source didn't know what the heck I was talking about and claimed that such a thing doesn't exist. They have RCA to Coax converters for like $50 but those take your standard Yellow, Red White RCA cables, not this funky single cable Atari thing.
So I am now hunting to a cable or converter or adapter so I can hook this classic system up and see if it even works?
Does anyone happen to have one, or if not know where I could get one?

I probably read the same faq as you on AtariAge. Maybe post in their 7800 forums, maybe someone has the part number for the coax/rca adapter?

Hmm.... That looks like it ought to do the trick. Waiting to see what Gilvan thinks before I rush out and bid on it.

That looks like the right thing, and I swear they had that at The Source.
I think one of my problems was the fact that the guy there wouldn't belive me that there was a RCA cable that carried both audio and video.
When I mentioned Atari he brought me to their console section with stuff like Hdef cables for xbox.
Now I know a bit better what it should look like, I will try another 'Source'
Anyone think of anywhere else that sells odd connectors?
Oh and yeah that's the same article I read.

Managed to bag one of those at the Source at Tecumseh mall. Now that I had a pic to go off of it wasn't hard to find. Cost about $6.
Thought this would fix everything, but no, the power supply was shot as well. Thankfully my boss is a bit of a handyman who likes to work with electronics and was able to fix it. It looks like crap and is about 75% shorter then it was, but it works.
So I now have a Working Atari 7800.
