A bit behind but I did remember to update this.
The party did pretty good for having no Cleric, only one death:
The group started off finishing up the first floor of the Temple. Then they went upstairs and checked out the rooms they had missed on the second floor. There wasn't much left to be found on either level. After this they checked out a secret passage to no where and then considered exploring the basement. It ended up the basement level was flooded with swamp water. Due to this the group instead decided to try to head up a floor. They ran into some trouble here as the stairs up were filled with rubble. This forced the group to climb along the walls and ceilng to get to the next floor. Erebos, Gelna and Olaroso rode up on a Giant Spider while Civ used her spells to get to the top.
On the second floor the group fought a battle against a titanic giant frog. This was quite the battle that had every single one of the present party members swallowed at least once. It was a tough fight and one that saw the Death of Olaroso only seconds before the Frog was taken down by the combined efforts of Erebos on the outside and Civ and Gelna on the inside. Luckily for the elf he had a Scroll of Revivify on him and was able to be raised the next round.
From here the party continued to explore eventually heading up to the 4th floor. After a few near empty rooms they party did manage to find Saint Stephens journal. Here the party managed to piece together some of the pieces of the puzzle that is the Temple of the Frog. By the end of their discussion they had determined that Stephen was probably the one they were looking for to get a Saints Ring and that he was possibly a Vampire who's sire was killed by the Cyborg staked to the Altar on the first floor. Dum Dum Dum!
A bit more exploration of the floor found the party face to face, or rather face to screen, with the main computer system. A room with 4 terminals and a central computer psychically assaulted the party as soon as they opened the door. The party smartly remembering how to deal with these terminals began smashing them just as Gelna found out yet again that "The Computer is Your Friend" and moved to defend the main system. Civ ignoring blows from the Barbarian attacked the main console triggering a lightning trap. The fight was a fairly tough one and Civ ended the battle with only 1 HP left and the rest of the party as similarly worse for wear, except Olaroso who spent the next few minutes thanking the gods for his Evasion trait.
After taking care of the computer system the party discussed getting through some stuck doors. They decided to take a chance on the next room and blindly used dimension door to get in. Erebos and Olaroso were the first to teleport into the room and both immediately felt ill. Olaroso took the brunt of this as Erebos teleported them back out quickly. There was some odd metal cylinder in the room, some tables and terminals but the two spellcaster's didn't get much of a chance to look around. Olaroso then bent over in pain and sprouted a rat like tail! Much debate insued about trying to get into this room, whether it was safe to do so and what the party should do next.
It was eventually decided to move on and upwards to the 5th floor. Here they found a room full of odd machinery and technology. While exploring they were ambushed by an Iron Predator. This beast looked to be more then a match for the party until one of Erebos' Eldritch blasts got lucky and caused the beast to become nauseated. Once near helpless it was only a matter of time before the party finished it off.
It was at this point we stopped. The party had used up pretty much all of their healing and decided they would be better to adventure some more when their Cleric of Pelor returned from whatever task his gawd had set before him.

As it turns out the Cleric had backed into a hidden door and fell down a slime covered slide which emptied into a long forgotten part of the temple. It was in here where our tenatious cleric was put to the test. Thankfully his nightvision allowed him to see in the darkness so as not to me blindly wandering around helpless.
The catacombs in which he found himself were dedicated to some long forgotten race, extinct vast millenia before the temples construction. Eldrich writings covered the walls from floor to ceiling intersperced with large frescoed paintings of vast winged things flying across a star dotted sky. As he jouneyed onwards the tunnels grew wider and larger. His keen dwarven knowledge of stonemasonry showed that the floor had been worn smooth threw what must have been Eons worth of shuffling feet.
The Air was damp and stale. The floors wer covered with the dust of ages and the mighty frescos gre more titanic in porportion, till the tops of which he could nie pierce with his naked eye; their upper most limits being lost in the clammy darkenss. The shear gargantuan vastness of the place was an oppressing weight that bore down upon his shoulders like the weight of a mountain itself. Even for a Dwarf it was something unheard of, but still his feet were drawn inexorable down the horrid halls. IT seemed and impossibility that such a gargatuan place could exist and not be found. His dwarven sences screamed to him that it just SHOULD NOT BE. For his feet felt like he was ascending whilst his mind told him he was delving farther and farther into this nighted labarynth of black antiquity.
As he passed door after door he would peer in to see rooms filled with many unknown arcane devices, now fallen to ruin over the years... their purpose unknown to him and he felt like it was a blessing his ignorance of these things from another time. HE began to notice a faint luminescene from ahead, and to this he made wavering progress. The faint sounds of what might be a whisper or the wind his only companion.
At last he entered what seemed to be a great cavern. The darkness was no longer so oppressive for it was dully illuminated by the sickly greenish glow from large fungi that covered the cavern floor. The sound or the whispering grew louder now... like the incoherant insane babblings from the mouths of a million mad men. The sheer sides of the cavern were agin lost in darkness but he could discern that it was pockmarked with a multitude of holes. Some no larger than his palm to other wider than his armspan. The lapping of an underground lake was noticable as well.
Traversing the dismal terrain he made his way towards the lapping fo the water. When he at last found the beach with its black sand and noxious oily waters, he moticed that a monstous alter had been reared near the waters edge. Around this alter he noticed a throng of black cloaked acolytes of what God he could not tell, making obscene obsiecence to the carver grotesque statue that rested upon the alter.
Stifling his breath and holding in his neasea the Cleric bore witness to a horrid representation of what creature he did not know. It resembled something like a dragon and an octopus but the sheer molevolence radiating from its eyes was terrifying to behold. HE found himself uncosiously holding his holy symbol of Pelor in a tight fisted grip. He also noticed that this was the source of the terrible whispering he had heard.
After what seemed like an eternity of watching, the dark worshipers horrible cacophany came to an abrupt end after a what could only be described as a phlegm covered crescendo of discordant wailing. It was then... that the center figure spoke aloud a command word and the blasphemous troupe threw back their hoods and wailed in an unearthly voice as one. Haveing set eyes finally upon the revelers Sunstone knew in that moment the degenerate horror these pepople worshipped.
Not one of them were without some horribly mutation or with some sickly stigmata adorning their necrotic grey flesh. Sore weeped from bobous wounds and milky eyes rolledin their sockets. Then... softly at first but increasing in volume a slithering, siding oozing was heard. Waht new horror this entailed he could only imagine.
Just then... burst forth from the dark holes in the walls, a vast multitude of slimy lepourous flying things like giant worms; their fluttering, flopping rubbery bodies born aloft by bat-like wings. No eyes could be discerened on what must be thier heads, only a huge leach like mouth filled with sharp translucent needle sharp teeth.
Sunstone watched in horror as one by one these abominations came floundering to the black beach and the horrible mongrel mob begin to sit upon them. The beasts must be somewhat tame but how? He stood awestruck by the spectacle of it all untill all but one of the group was left. The main figure that seemed to lead the unholy congregation. Turning his rhuemy eyes upon Sunstone he seemed to be wating for the cleric to do something. It was then that a horrid bloated beast swooped down and landed with a wet sound next to Sunstone. it Writhed and jostled him almost palyfully if such a beast could be thought of that way.
The leader mounted his slimy steed and took up in the air leaving Sunstone behind. His sences reeling from what he had seen and the beasts mucous filled maw mewling for him was maddening. He felt his sanity slipping away. How easy it would be to just forget onesself and take purcahse on that hideous steed of the darkness. To fly away with the others to some forgotten place and learn forgotten secrets of the cosmos.
Then... like a bolt of lightning his clarity returned and he felt the holly symobol of Pelor in his hand radiating a fierce heat, yet not burning his skin. He backed away from the mostrous thing and it screeched its annoyance and took flight leaving him alone in the cavern with the alter and its mostrous statue. There was only one thing to do. This blasphemy could not be sufferd to exist any longer. Gathering his will and his faith about him, Sunstone called down one of his most potent spells upon the alter. A blast of fiery fury burst forth from the ceiling above. Like the heavens themselves had opened up and the righteous wrath of a vengful God decended upon the statue obliterating it in an inferno of cleansing fire.
Such was the hwat of the blast that nothing was left of the ediface and the ground was turned to glass for around the site. Dizzy and staggering Sunstone wandered towards the site. IT was then that he felt the earth beginning to shift and he could hear the sounds of rock craking and breaking. Pebbles rained down upon his armor and he knew that the cavern was collapsing upon itself. Seeing no way out but to pluge into the greasy waters, Sunstone charged into the surf.
The Cold fetid waters enveloped him. He was dragged down again and again only to fight his way to the surface to steal another lungfull of air. Finally the waters closed over his head for the last time and he was swept away by a powerfull current. Buffeted by the tides and careening off rocks he was wished away beneath the waves. All sence of orientation was lost and as his lungs burned and strained and his mind clouded over he offered up his soul to Pelor and let the darkness envelope him. Hoping that his God was listening and knew that his final act was to remove a blight upon this world.
Pain... Cold... Wetness... Light began to burn into his eyes. Coughing up lungfulls of oily water. Sunstone found himself in the very room of the temple where he last fought the frog like creatures. His body was covered with bruises and his armor was battered and he was wet from head to toe but he was alice, somehow. Slowly, painfully he got shakily to his feet and things began to come into focus. His companions were gone but he could sence them in the rooms above. Makinghis way out of the room he looked for the stairway to the upper levels.
Not knowing if it had all been a dream or some horrble adventure he strode on. Feeling somwhat vindicated and with new found faith in his God. The only sound... and a sound that Sunstone could not hear was the very faintest sounds of lapping waves and the slimy rustling of back wings.

The Temple of the Frog is no more.
Continuing in the machine shop where we left off, the party (which consisted of Gelna, Olaroso, Sunstone and Civ this weekend) explored the area. The after a bit of exploring they found an odd area with two pods in a glassed in enclosure. Oloaroso bypassed the glass and checked out one of the pods and eventually set off what seemed to be a trap after some fiddling. Freezing gass quickly filled the enclosure and began to spread into the room. Brilliantly the Elf realized that a control panel behind the glass probably controlled this aparatus (rolling under his INT on D100). Braving the gas due to his Evasion ability he tried to shut this machine down. After a few rounds of trying he realized his disable device skill just wasn't enough for this task and backed down. The gas eventually subsided and he headed back into the enclosure to check out the other pod. Careful to not have a repeat performance, he investigated the second pod.
In this second pod the party found something interesting. A human male, well built with blue hair. The person appeared to be in a deep sleep. After some poking and proding they were able to get this human out of the pod but were unable to wake him from his sleep. Spells, healing and even physical harm were tried but nothing seemed to wake the sleeper. After quite a bit of fidling the party gave up and Olaroso heaved the human onto his shoulders and the party explored more of the fifth floor.
In a room to the north of the machine shop the party had another near death experience for three party members. Charging into the room filled with odd machinery Sunstone was grabbed and nearly electocuted to death by a huge thick sentient seeming cable. Civ saved the Dwarf just in time with a newly learned teleportation spell. Some debat was had as the party argued over whether or not to try to enter the room again and if it was worth it. In the end their decision was made for them as another cable, which Olaroso had casually shot with an arrow grabbed the elf and pulled him into the room. As the party responded the first cable reached out and grabbed Gelna.
With Gelna yelling that she would be fine and trying to bite the cable the party moved to assist Olaroso. Sunstone sat praying for a moment and then called down the might of Pelor in a powerful Harm spell that totally disintegrated the first cable. All the while Gelna continued to be crushed and zapped by the other cable not finding anything she could use to hurt this thing. Lacking a second Harm spell the party moved over and began to methodically hack at this alien creature(?) Gelna would have gone down at least two times if it wasn't for her barbarian blood raging in her veins. Sunstone kept the Half-Orc barely alive until the party finally finished off this threat.
After a wave of healing the party investigated the room and found little besides a trapdoor in the floor. This door appeared to head to a maintenance level between floors. Olaroso and Gelna decided to investigate while Sunstone stood back and lectured them on the dangers of their actions. Eventually the Half Orc and Elf figured out that through the lighting system they could use this area to get to any of the rooms they were unable to get into on the previous floor. They immediately headed to the reactor room, where just last session Olaroso gained a tail.
After a bit of fiddling they found a hatch into the room. Immediately upon opening it warmth flooded the crawlspace and Gelna began to feel very ill. Instead of taking their chances the duo decided a hasty retreat was in order. Gelna fled quickly while Olaroso took a moment to stay behind and re-latch the hatch stoping the spread of radiation. Fortunately (or possibly unfortunately depending on which player you asked) Gelna was saved from any mutation. A quick "I told ya so" followed by a restoration spell from Sunstone brought the Half Orc back up to health.
From here the party headed up to the 6th and final floor of the Temple and were quickly ambushed. Two metallic men assaulted the party. I grabbed a copy of the old AD&D expedition to Barrier Peaks and provided them with a picture of the Assasin Droids the party now faced. These droids were excellent fighters that produced a blast of negative energy every few rounds. This was a tough fight for the party. There were characters hovering at 1 and 2 HP and there were three occasions where they party strongly consisidered fleeing. If it wasn't for Gelna being in a rage and being stubborn about it, the party would have fled but they couldn't leave their Barbarian friend alone to be destroyed by these droids. By the end of the fight the spellcasters were all pretty much out of spells and none of the party was in good shape HP wise. In addition based on information gained in that fight the party thought they had a good idea where Saint Stephen was. So they decided a nights sleep and some preparation for a fight with a Vampire was in order.
So the party slept, moving the callendar to the night before Brewfest, which is a week long Fall Holiday. Which also happens to be the time that Mordenkanen estimated it would take the army of Iuz to reach the underdark portal in the Ruins of Castle Greyhawk. The party is definately cutting things close.
The next morning saw a wave of spellcasting and potion drinking as the party buffed themselves for the fight to come. Bless, protection from evil, enlarge, bulls strength, if there was a buff spell to be cast it was. After readying themselves the party advanced on Saint Stephen. It was an interesting fight. Swarms of rats were summoned, the Vampire changed into a swarm of blood motes, 3 fireballs were cast that caught the entire party, the flaming blast of pelor was drawn down on top of the melee combatants and people vomitted from being swarmed. I think overall the party did more damage to themselves then the Vampire did just trying to catch him in a blast every time regardless of who was close. Due to their preparations the Vampire didn't stay corporal for long. By the 6th round he had already reverted to mist form and began retreating. The party followed still dishing out the damage. By the time the vampire rested in his coffin with the party over him he was at -500 or so HP. It was going to take a very long time for him to regenerate from that. Eventually Sunstone remembered that they needed to bring him out into the sun, and soon after Saint Stephen was no more. The party recovered his Saints Ring and then debated what to do. After a very short bit of discussion they decided they wouldn't get much chance to blow up a building in D&D and that it was time to re-set the charges and make a big boom.
So as the party trudged through The Great Swamp and headed back to civilization and the fair city of Greyhawk, Sunstone pulled on odd device from his pocked. It was thin and black and had finger grips on it. At the top was a red cover made of an odd material. Popping this cover open the Dwarf uncovered a metal switch. As the switch was flipped The Great Swamp was rocked by an explosion and a wave of force ripped through the swamp flattening trees, greating waves in the stanant water and upsetting local wildlife for miles around.

I was sooo happy to be finally done with that nasty stinky swampy temple! Made it to level 12 (again... finally) and back in town in time for a much deserved week long beer fueled bender. Btw... who brought back the blue haired guy? Well now that that is all over with... all we have to worry about is a giant army on our doorstep.

I think I am going to multi class my Cleric. I am going to take a level in barbarian and thief. Just to make things crazy. I want to be able to rage and then backstab some with my mace. I think that would be funny.

Wow. Reading the awesome Shadowrun session report reminded me that I totally forgot to update this after our last session.
Our brave, bold and now tougher adventurers made their way back to the City of Greyhawk leaving The Temple of the Frog and the Great Swamp behind them (hopefully forever). As they approached the Jewel of the Flanases they noticed an undue amount of activity. Outlying farms appeared to be abandoned and huge work teams were busily involved in some form of construction. As the group got closer to the city they noticed an increase in city guard patrols as well as civilian militia and it became evident that Greyhawk was preparing for War.
Checking their Calandar the party realized that it was the First of Brewfest, what should be a week long holiday to celebrate the harvest. The mood was far from celebratory. The party was keenly aware that Brewfest was also the expected arrival time for the army of Iuz. One thing didn't make sense though: the fact that the army of The Old One was slowly advancing on the city through the underdark was not public knowledge. A trip to Mordenkanen at the Guild of Wizardry provided answers.
Those of you who have followed these session reports from the beginning may have an idea of what was to come next. Much earlier in their adventuring careers these brave heroes suffered a horrendous defeat. After months of questing in the village of Kingsholm, the underdark and the dense Jungles to the South the party found themselves trying to stop the resurrection of the Yuan-Ti god Sertrous. Still relatively untested and inexperienced the party failed to stop the ritual and a portion of the Demon God returned to Oerth. The party barely escaped with their lives and fled north and eventually found themselves in Greyhawk. Distracted by events in the grand city, most of them had forgotten about their earlier failure.
While the party has been busy dealing with the Ruins of Greyhawk, the Yuan-Ti army has slowly marched north. Mordenkanen thanked the party for recovering the Saints Ring for him, matter of factly, and then quickly showed the party a map of Oerth. This map showed the route that the army of Sertrous was following as well as the expected route, underground, that the army of Iuz was using. Based on the current information it looked like Greyhawk would be under siege, from two sides, within the week!
The Archmage suggested that the party get back to Nerull's Gate and do what they can to cut off the army of Iuz while he worked with the City and other outlying baronies to prepare for the Yuan-Ti invasion. He strongly suggested that if they failed again, it would be the end of Greyhawk.
So the party gathered their resources, did some last minute shopping to replenish their much diminished magical support and headed back down into the Ruins of Castle Greyhawk. Taking various shortcuts they had found on previous trips through the ruins the party made it down through the Tower of Magic and over to the Arena floor of the Tower of War. Here as, they wandered through a maze like area they encountered the forces of Iuz. First they encountered some Half Ogres led by an Orc taskmaster. These they fought through prison gates. The fight was quick and bloody as Sunstone struck them down with the fires of Pelor, inadvertently igniting some nearby barrels. Further into the maze, after avoiding some traps and a quick fight with some phase spiders the party was surrounded by another group of Orcs led by a shaman of Gruumsh. The party enjoyed being able to easily defeat these creatures having had such a hard time of them only months before. Their newfound strength and experience made for a quick fight. Questioning some of the Orcs the party found that these beasts were part of an advanced scouting force of some 200 or so Goblinoids sent ahead of check to see if the ruins were ready to host the army. It seemed the party still had some time before the main force arrived, but how long?

I am pretty sure that This will be our last and final battle with the army of Iuz... I for one dont hold much hope for us returning from the gate, but I do think we will prevail and be able to stem the tide of forces emerging from there. We should be ready for what we "know" was there last time (evil cleric and arrow demons). And just hope that not to may baddies have surfaced to block our way to the gate. Then all Greyhawk needs to do is find a civilization of giant Mongooose to unleash upon the yan-ti and all will fall into place

Well It is pretty safe to assume that we slept through the last and final battle with the army if Iuz and the Yaun-ti. We must of had too much to drink athe the green dragon inn and missed out on all the death and dismemberment.

Let me know if you need a player.

I wouldnt mind another player joining the party... especially if he's also a tank! Then my cleric wont get thrashed around so much Is this weekend (11th) still a no go? I mean are you guys still scheduled to work? I know its Tuzes weekend to work but she could still come late if need be I am sure. Waht if any were the thoughts on what we were going to do after this campaign ends (for ill or good)? Continue with 3.5, switch to 4th ed. maybe darksun, or something completely different. Just curious... Oh and for the record I could really use an escape from all this reality and holiday B.S. thats happening... just saying

So we finally got to play again.
I don't have the time to go into details unfortunately.
So the party returned to Nerull's Gate. This time they were much more prepared. Many rounds were spent buffing up, drinking potions and casting protective spells. Once the party was ready they debated a quick rush into the pyramid, a frontal assault or a potential flank, or perhaps even hitting the pyramid from behind. The end decision was a frontal rush.
The party charged into the pyramid, spells and swords blazing. A summoned rock creature pinned down the Cleric of Iuz while Gelna began assaulting the Arrow Demons. Sunstone kept mainly to healing at the start of the fight. Olaroso was quickly gimped by a spell from the Cleric (he got knocked to 1 INT and 1 CHA in the first round). He spent the rest of the fight fumbling around attacking people randomly while invisible (one of the buffs was a great invisibility spell for the daggerspell mage).
The fight ran very long and was challenging. At one point the Demons moved in to help out the Cleric and were hit by "the Sol", Sunstone's most powerful fire spell. This finished off the Cleric and badly wounded two of the Demons. Around this time Civ joined the fight. With the Cleric gone the rest of the fight was a mop up. The Demons continued to do damage with their arrows but not as quickly as Sunstone could heal. It was just a matter of time before they all fell.
After this the party finally collapsed the underdark stairway, effectively cutting off the army of Iuz, and there was much rejoicing. yeah. Some time was spent looking around the area and Gelna managed to trigger a trap that knocked Olaroso down to 0 STR. So now he had 3 stats with a total of 2 combined. Not a good day to be an elf daggerspell mage. In their search the party found a clue that seemed to lead them to Iuz's general, Vayne.
At this point the party holed up in a room and took a much needed rest. Next session they go on the hunt for Vayne and hopefully eliminate the last remants of the Old One's threat.
Unfortunately it seems the next time we will be playing won't be until February. Stupid Holidays!

Yes we finally (almost completely) finished that final battle map! I must say that those Arrow Demons are probably one of the toughest creatures that we have encountered thus far in our adventures IMHP. I mean The can have up to 6 shots around with lots of bonus to hit, they can do up to 18 pts of damage per arrow (and thats without a critical), plus they dont have minuses to shoot into melee or if they are in hand to hand and they dont provoke attacks of opportunity either. Then lets not forget their resistances or immunities to prettymuch everything and their damage resistance. "phew"! Aside from their mediocre hit points and AC they are pretty deadly... oh, and they can dimension door at will. "we hates them"... Lets not gloss over too many funny parts of the combat. When sunstone used " harm" on the cleric for 60+ damage in one hit. (the same she used on gelna first time) Olarosso managing to get the killing blow in on I believe 3 out of the 5 baddies while being as smart as a carrion crawler and as charasmatic as a shreiker mushroom CIV makeing a dramatic entrance at the end of the battle and blasting rays of enfeeblement and scorching rays all over the place to pretty much no avail and attacking with her flaming sword that did no fire damage and, well... you get the idea. I also have never seen the warlock roll so LOW on her spel resistances... it was sad. IF she could have got pasted those demons resistance it would have made that fight alot easier. Gelna also had to settle for just being as strong as a stone giant instead of a storm giant for the battle after getting zappped and loosing some str early in the combat. Sunstone did actually fall at one point but Gelna (of all people) was right near by and poured a healing poition down his throat yet again rescuing him from eternal paradise at Pelors side. Sunstone also consecrated the evil alter of IUZ by making magical goodness spells so we didnt kill ourselves by touching the glowing red alter that looked REALLY inviting. I must say with Olarosso being totally nerfed our ability to find hidden goodies really stinks. I can only imagine that its because we just are too lazy to search after a fight or we have low attention spans or something. well... now we just have the other side of the cavern to explore and then I think we will have mostly averted the horrible war. we'll just scoop up some mushrooms on our way out and then its back to the green dragon inn for some undercooked sausage and watery ale... Mmmmm MMMMmmm!!!!

Well 1 evil god is just as bad as the next I suppose. And no I havent forgotten about the nasty man that taunted us then tried to kill us so long ago. As they say... the mark of a great man is his ability to forgive those who would raise arms against them.
ok... im not sure who said that, I might have just made it up, but I can forgive allot but some things I can NEVER forgive!
So I guess im not so great... whatever.

I remain interested in playing 3.5 if you guys need an experienced player. Still interested in working the Hellreaver, or an enchanter bard, or whatever is needed, either for a new game or for a current one.
Shoot me an email at cassidyc@uwindsor.ca if you need a ringer for your upcoming playtime.

wOOt! Finally got to play again! You know its been a long time between sessions when you are not sure if you have any spells memorized or what certain spells do or if you have more than 1 hit point. I will leave the play-by-play description to Gilvan but suiffice it to say there was alot fo fighting and adventuring and treasure hunting going on. Some minds were changed about the gods and the difference between "Evil" and "super dooper Evil" *poke* in the eyes... anyways... wish we had our warlock but hopefully she will be there next time! Till then... adventure of Sunstone the might Cleric of Pelor continues!!! oh.. and all those other guys that follow him around too.

Right summary...
So we re-joined out group inside the ruined Temple of Nerull. Here they heroically debated what to do for about half an hour. Part of this was the Elf Olaroso debating helping out Nerull by re-consecrating his Altar and going back to the near top of the Tower of War to repair a statue the party skipped over many many sessions ago. Next was a good 10 minute lecture by Sunstone on the true nature of the Gawds. It was quite amusing with the Nerull - poke to the eye - bad. Pelor - cantrip heal minor wounds - good.
Eventually the party decided they should finish looking around this area as all they really did was charge into the shattered pyramid and assault the troops of Iuz and collapse the ancient stairway to the underdark. First was the exploration of the fungal forest. Lots of (ineffective) searching for mushrooms for a side quest and a quick battle vs. some Violet Fungus and Shambling Mounds. The party did manage to find some hidden treasure but that's about it.
From here the party moved over to the ruined rectory. Here they faced their first real challenge of the night. A Gargantuan Purple Worm. That's right, the traditional D&D Purple Worm fight. It was interesting tactically as the Worm fought from within the ruined barracks and kept attacking the party from over the 10" walls. Olaroso was the first to be swallowed, Sunstone second. Meanwhile Gelna and Civ battered the creature from the outside. It was looking pretty bleak until Olaroso came up with the brilliant idea of opening a bottle of Dust of Dryness inside the worm. Unfortunately it was 6 seconds too late, and passed into the Gray just as Sunstone's flaming armour burned through the Worms gullet. This left Sunstone just enough time to use his scroll of revivify and bring the elf back. That was a close one!
Having cleared out the rest of The Temple of Nerull the party returned to the Vaults of Creation. They had a short debate on whether to head right to the hidden passage and on to Vayne or to finish exploring a side passage they had skipped while on this floor previously. They decided on the side passage.
After a bit of exploration the party found a statue of a robed man. Checking it out Gelna noted that it's hands were hinged, so she tried to open them. With a bright flash the spot Gelna was replaced by a set of bones. Her studed leather armour fell to the ground, her cloak settled around the bones, her ring and dagger clattered to the ground. The party stood there in shock, for a good minute (I was timing them). Some initial panic had them trying all kinds of detect magic and arcana checks on the statue. Then someone figured out that Gelna wasn't wearing Studded Leather and didn't use a Dagger. Another minute of panic and debate as the party tried to decide what to do. They debated returning to town, using a wish scroll, finishing exploring the dungeon. I can't quite remember exactly what it was that eventually clued them off but I remember Sunstone figuring out that she must be in the Statue. He was right. Olaroso touched the statue and his form was replaced by that of Gelna who slumped down dead of suffocation. Eventually the party figured out how the disarm this devious trap.
Here another period of debate occurred while the party tried to decide what to do about their dead Half Orc companion. After quite a bit of debate a trek to the surface was decided upon. Returning to Greyhawk the saw the city even more prepared for the coming siege. Arcane defences were being added to the recently built ground works and a secondary city wall in the form of a wooden palisade was nearing completion. The party did a quick selling/shopping trip, got Gelna Raised at the Temple to St. Cuthbert and returned to the Ruins of Greyhawk.
Heading back to where they last were and totally avoiding the evil hollow statue the party headed to the last door that they knew of. We ended the night with a roleplaying scene. The party came across an odd room filled with odd coloured mists. In it was a black skinned beauty with silver hair, red bat wings and small horns protruding from her brown. She asked the party for help and explained that she was an Elf Princess trapped here by her lover who was an apprentice of Iuz. After quite a bit of back and forth the party left the Princess behind and walked on towards the secret passage that is reported to lead to Vayne. They weren't sure what to do about the Elf/Succubus. They didn't know if they could trust her or if they should try to help her, but decided she had already waited 200 years, a couple more days wouldn't hurt.
Nice player's I have eh?
So next session (hopefully in two weeks as planned): through the secret passage and on to Vayne, the general of Iuz's army and the last remnant of the Iuzite threat to Greyhawk.

Another stellar performance by the Holyer than holy Priest of Pelor Suntone the Mergangious! Oh... and all those other guys too, they did a bit. I thought that the fungi were going to be alot tougher than that, but my past recollection of them was like 3 levels ago. If they grappled me it would have been all over anyways... im not super strong. Im glad I decided to just wade into every nasty rotten house since I am immune to disease (normal or magical anyways) to spare the rest of the party the nasty effects of such things... at least they can help me clean my armor when all this is done, yuck! That damn purple worm! At least I got to use my furning armor spell i been waiting to use forever now. And for the record I purposly let myself get swallowed so I could rescue the silly elf. Note to self... armor REALLY needs cleaning now. That nasty statue was a bugger. I had a sneaking suspicion that gelna was transported away somewhere or inside the statue but she never made a sound so I couldnt be sure IT sucks that it cost her a level. I have to admit that I pooped my armor when I thought she was turned to a pile of bones and armor! (ok.. I should just get new armor at this point). Im still not convinced that the hawt demoness/succubus is a captured elven princess. I mean why would a mage fall in love with an ELF when dwarven women are so much better looking!!! At least she is safe (and we are safe from her as long as she is still in her pen) so we have time to figure it out. Well I guess that leaves us with the rest of the vaults of creation to go through and the battle with the general. The way I figure it, with him being stuck down here for so long hes probubly gotten real weak and out of shape from not having fought anyone in a while. Should be a piece of cake right? RIGHT?!?!?! Till next session...

So this week started off with the players doing a bit of exploring The Vaults of Creation. Eventually they found the secret passage mentioned in the Cleric's journal and teleported their way ... somewhere.
They showed up in a room, scoped it out, got scared of some curtains, found some halls and eventually found a secret door. Through this they found a huge summoning circle with three smaller circles inside of it. In the larger circle were three demons, in one of the smaller circles was a human mage. The party had finally found Vayne.
What a fight! It was long, interesting and difficult. There was much grappling, spells cast, illusions, walls of force, teleporting, dying, etc. Sunstone was wasted in the first round of combat by Vayne. Erebos eventually figured out that the Vayne in the circle wasn't actually there. The demons tied up Olaroso and Gelna. Characters took massive amounts of damage, Spell resistance made the casters near useless. Overall it was a ton of fun. Maybe Sunstone will share some stories.
As Vayne fell down dead the party met a demi-god. Iuz himself showed up, resurrected and reprimanded Vayne, killed him again and then turned on the party. They tried to flee with no luck. Then something happened. Something strange and C'thulhu like. Iuz was suddenly grabbed, warped and sucked out of the room.
The party stood totally baffled for a long time. I think even now they are sitting at home baffled by what happened. At some point they found their wits and searched the room. Part of what they found was a portable hole of Vayne's and in that they found a small room that included a cot and on that was a book. After a quick flip through the party was able to catch something about Iggwilv.
Anyone recognize that name?
