My question is this- If I expand my modular/skins for building models, what should I include?
The Skins can glue on a cardboard frame or be used without a frame to make cool models. I have a basic kit or two on my website.

I have walls, steps, floors, and doors. My kits are intended to be used by a scratch builder to make anything from a mini scene to a huge complex for gaming. I am trying to keep the prices down by making these skins verses a commercial style kit. (not sure of the rules on here yet) my site is www.modelersattic.com and the modular/skins are under furniture/accessories on my site. I am not selling, I am looking for opinions on what gamers are looking for. I will check back later.....

Clay, feel free to pimp any of your stuff. I actually encourage it. I want this to be a place gamers can go for news, new and interesting products to me is news. I love hearing about the latest things out there, and it's so easy to miss it with all the various gaming news sites out there. Heck if you want go to the trading post section and list pictures and prices, I really don't mind. All I care is that it's legal and gaming related, and that you don't spam the place posting in every section or 5 times a day about the same thing.
I still can't quite picture these skins, can you post some pictures. Looking at your site they just look like resin walls, I don't get the skin part.

Well they can be used as walls on their own, but if you design a card house however you want, then glue them on it. (That is what I call a skin.) I make them about 1/8" thick and they work well glued on cardboard or card. Being so thin they can be modified easy to fit any shape. So in otherwords you can build anything you want with cardboard (cheap), and then make it look cool with these pieces after you have the design done out of cardboard. Look at my Dwarf pictures done on a shoebox with my skins.on my site- (Miniatures 3rd page) Also I am working on small sacks of grain for you, one is open, some are stacked and I am going to throw in a barrel. Kinda like a supply stash. All togeather and a few singles. It will be under cover stuff when I am done.

Okay I get it now. Here's a pic for those too lazy to go to the site and find it: Cool news on the supply stash, looking forward to seeing it.

Every little rock on that wall was a pain. Now I can make anything with rock walls with the resin copy, as well as the other stuff. The Dwarf was my latest attempt at a mini, and the torch, door with the frame, and shield was done years ago. It all comes togeather to make a nice model though.
I would have put this on, but between work-the phone company, and helping my fathers company build pipeline equipment, then my wifes honeydo list, the kids, and my web business I never have much time. I pop on look at a few things and try to sculpt a little, or I cast a order, then crash around 12:00. So thanks!
Anyway, yea it is almost done. I have to do a little more stacks of stuff. Then make the mold. It may be finished in a week or so. I am also making a large model with only my pieces to show what can be done with them. I don't know when I will get the large model finished.
later, Clay

I have the kit close to being finished, but should it be made as cover as well or left as an option to make it that way? It would be partial cover as is. supply stash could all be stacked and be supply cover kit. anyway just a thought. I will try to get some pics of it on here.

Going to make the mold, I made it so that you can stack it for cover or use all of it scattered. Also working on more modular/skins as a add on to those kits.

The more customizability the better. For grain/barrel stashes I use them both as decoration in the corner of a room (which always gets at least one character to search through them) or near the center so the mobs in the room can use them for cover. Having a set that can be used for each would be a bonus.
Same goes for most scenery really. Most of the time the tables in chairs in the room are only ever actually used as tables and chairs if the party some how sneaks into the room. I our recent games the mobs are usually well aware of the party coming and have converted any furniture into baricades.

Cool! Well the mold is done and I will make a set paint it and post pictures here. What else did you need for your latest game besides window dressing, and the kit i just finished? I will send you a grab bag of stuff to use and review.

I don't need window dressing litterally, I meant window dressing as those little touches you add to make something more interesting. I mean stuff like the grain and barrels. Stuff that makes a 10x10 dungeon room with 4 Golbins in it into something more then just an empty room with 4 mobs to fight. I currently play in 2.5 Dimensions. The map is 2-d, walls are just drawn onto a battle grid, or I use those new D&D Dungeon Tiles (see the review section). Onto this 2D map I add minis for the characters and minis for the mobs, and where possible I like to add minis for any scenery in the room. I find by just adding a mini of a table to the room instead of just drawing a box and saying that's a table (or labeling the box table) the players actually interact with the scenery. When it's drawn it tends to get ignored. I also find playing with 3D walls makes it way to hard for everyone to see what is going on. I tryed it out quite a long time ago when TSR put out this cardboard dungeon set for use with D&D. While we enjoyed the adventures and the unique look of the game, we found it just wasn't practical when playing. Looking at my current game here's the kind of stuff I could use the most: Broken Satues, Broken Masonry and/or cement style Rubble (though I think the dungeon tiles stuff will work best for this as I can still stand minis on it), Grave Markers and Headstones, Sarcophogi (sp?) both standing up and lying down and both open and closed, coffins, Sold stone tables (for alters, receiving tables, embalming tables, etc), fountains, something to represent an ooze (I can't seem to find a suitable mini), Treestumps, Bed rolls (layed out) and Beds. I would hapily write up another review. I just want to check though, you do realize I already did up a review of some of your stuff before? Here's a link to it: wgamingresource.proboards40.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=minreview&thread=3265&page=1#9161I'll hapily take another look at your stuff, I just want to make sure you realize we did this once already.

The ooz is not so hard, but what do you want it to look like? I also need to know what color you want red blue or green? I can make it out of a different resin, polyester which I hate cause it smells like a nail salon. Plus it gives you blisters if you don't wear gloves. Anyway look around on my site- beds, rock table, coffin, grave stones, etc. I will hook you up.

The scenery looks pretty nice. You definately have improved. I like the way you made them stackable, they fit well together.
I figured I would be painting the ooze, so whatever colour. If you are talking about making it translucent plastic, that would be pretty cool. The particular Ooze I need for my game is a mob from the Fiend Folio D&D book which I don't actually own, so I can't tell you exactly what it looks like. I was thinking something generic I could use for any type of ooze or slime. If you are making it out of translucent plastic, I would guess green would be the most generic, if it's any trouble, I can easily paint up a plain resin one.

Remember the pacman ghosts? I could do a ooz ball kinda like that, or maybe the blob-an old b rated movie. I can make it kind of like a puddle making a form upward. Also yes translucent. Green would be cool I have green. Also you can paint it.

Hey, I have a statue of a priest type character, a little big at 36mm to where the eyes should be, no face just a robe and hood. I will release it in August. 4 to 6 Lined up down a entry would look cool. They will be 3.00 each, but I could send some of those too. Let me know on the ooze....

That could be cool. For the ooze, what I have in my mind is an set of old 70s minis my dad had that was 3-5 slimes and oozes from either RAFM or Grenadier maybe Heritage. These all looked like a puddle with a pseudopod streatching up and or out like it was trying to grab something. I would love to find a picture, but I can't seen to find any at all and Stuff of Legends seems to be becoming a bunch of dead or missdirected links. EDIT: here's a quick photoshop showing kind of what I'm thinking of. Should look more liquidy though with water ripples. My PS skills are pretty weak.

Here's a pic of one I have almost picked up from Reaper, the Undead Ooze... The problem with this one, and what kept me from buying it is the size. I need something that would fit in a 1" by 1" square. A medium or small monster in D&D terms. This one would be a Large 2" x 2".

Well I have 3 and one is kinda like the picture. The other looks like a wave at the tip, but has a twisted column before the top. I figured a vortex would be needed to lift the liquid. The third is a puddle on the move with a column vortex and a blob of droplets at the end. I will try to make the green transparencies over this weekend. Monk statue is finished. About to release it on TMP.

Will this work for what you need? I can modify it a little, but without a good sketch or picture this is what I came up with. Did not see the reaper till after I made the mold for these. The mini is a reaper mini by Sandra Garrity shown for scale.

Personally I think those look pretty sweet. I really like they way they turned out. I think you should definately market these on your site as they are some of the coolest slimes I have seen. I'm not sure on the one in the middle, but I think it's just a bad angle in the picture. Of all of them the one on the bottom left in the pic is my favorite.

Short run on the slimes was over in a week, fun though. I should have time to gather up some stuff for you now and mail it. I have been busy with tackle football starting up for my kids, my parents 47th wedding anniversery and work, sculpting and orders. So sorry it took so long. I will mail everything I think you can use.
