The timing isn't the greatest (Superbowl weekend) but the location is pretty decent. Close enough that you can make it back in time to watch the Superbowl, if interested. I went last year, mostly for minis but played some of the preview 4th edition stuff. I had a good time with my wife. It conflicts with my wife's work schedule so I'm not sure if I'll be going this year (she can't go). Anyways, here's the D&DXP announcement: www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/news/20081002We are pleased to announce the locations and dates for D&D Experience 2009 at this time. D&D Experience is the only official Wizards of the Coast show that is all about D&D. This is the place to be for sneak peeks of new product offerings, face-to-face chats with R&D staff, and premiere RPGA adventures. We will have a full slate of Living Forgotten Realms adventures for characters of all heroic-tier levels (with new adventures premiering at levels 7-10), as well as a D&D Miniatures Championship event. In 2009, D&D Experience will be held at the following venue and dates: January 29 - February 1, 2009 Grand Wayne Convention Center Fort Wayne, IN 46802 www.grandwayne.comHotel rooms will be available at a special rate at the Hilton Fort Wayne at the Grand Wayne Convention Center starting on October 6, 2008. Rates are as follows: $109 per night for single or double occupancy $119 per night for triple or quad occupancy Edit: Oops, this should be in the Non-Local events forum. Can it be moved there?

Moved.
Since joining your Living Forgotten Realms games this sounds very appealing. Unfortunately it's just not in the budget.
Odd on the timing. I guess Hasbro assumes that no D&D gamers are into Sports. How stereotypical of them.

Naw, they just messed up this year. It was supposed to be in Pittsburg but it fell through. (Not sure why -- may have been cost plus realizing it was a poor venue.) So, at this late date, they had to take leftovers as far as dates go since conventions are booked far more than 4 months in advance. Cost was also a factor since the US economy is in the crapper right now. Ft. Wayne on Superbowl weekend ended up being the only option to even hold the event at all.
Winter Fantasy (what D&DXP used to be called) had been in Ft. Wayne for a few years until 2004, when it was moved to Washington, DC.
Hopefully next year it will be nearer the end of February, like usual.
As for going, I probably wouldn't go by myself. However, if a few guys went from our group I might think about it.
