Based on the turn out for our last Pints and Pawns, Pandora and I were discussing having another event in about a months time.
Instead of a Pints and Pawns event, I was thinking of going back to the Boardgaming events we used to host. Something with more gaming and less drinking and eating (though both may still be avalialbe).
I'm considering Saturday December 13th or perhaps the 20th.
Assuming they will still welcome us as they have in the past, I would like to have the event at the Knights of Columbus on Walker Road. This will be an afternoon event starting at Noon and running as long as we want but at least until 8:00PM.
The KofC will be open to the public, but they have three large tables that are off to the side of the main dining area. They serve alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages and have a good home cooked menu with all items under $8, with most being significantly less. The large tables mean that we won't be limited to card and simple games. At past events we have played the WoW boardgame, Shogun, Catan, Shadows over Camelot, A Game of Trones and more. I will be bringing at least Settlers of Catan as it's usually a group favorite and will grab 2-3 other games. As usual if anyone wants to bring and teach their favourite, that's definately encouraged.
Are people interested in attending such an event, and if so, which day would be better?

COOL! I would totally go to that. I think the 20th works best for me cause I KNOW I have that weekend off call and I will be in town. Although I might have the 13th off as well so I will have to find out then I will let ya know. Either way we should have one sometime b4 everyone has to spend the holidays with family...

Oh yeah... I could most likely get a few more people not associated with WGR to attend, plus bring some games we might not have already. If this G2G becomes for sure I think it would be wise to set up a post that we can see what games people will be bringing with them so and not to have multiples of the same one floating around, unless there will be a tournament of some sort.
O.o' O,

Seeing as you are the only one who replied, it doesn't look like this will be going anywhere. Seems I must have made a bit more of an ass of myself at the Kildare then I remembered (seeing as I don't remember leaving there or the last couple games we played, this could be a strong possibility). That is one of the reasons for trying to set up a non-Drinking event. EDIT: I do apologize to anyone or everyone I offended. Having a night out at a bar the day after I get back from a horrible and unexpected trip to Kentucky and mixing it with gaming and meeting new people probably wasn't the smartest idea. Please don't let anything that happened in the later part of the evening become what you would expect as normal behavior from me. I'm sure many friends and members on the board can attest that I'm not usually an ass. EDIT 2: along the same lines, I would love to give Graverobbers From Outer Space a Serious Go. I've heard from others at the event it was rather cool.

I'll see what we can do. We will have to make it out to the KofC sometime in the next few days to ensure that they will welcome us as they have in the past.
I'm thinking the 20th is the best for me as well, as I'm pretty sure that's right when we start our Winter Shutdown at work. Though I did just notice that that would coincide with our bi-weekly 3.5 game. Maybe we can move the 3.5 game to the 15th as the RPGA games are going to be put on hold until January (after the last one in November).
Hopefully we can get more then just the two of you to come out. If not we will have a great game of Shogun (or something else).

Well, you certainly offended me when I showed up last minute. I would have thought you'd be happy to see me, but nooooooo.

HaHa
The day after that might have actually worked. At this point I have heard pretty much all the stories from a few different people, so most of the blanks have been filled in.

Sounds like I left before the party really got started. I don't think I'll be able arrange another night off until after Christmas, but I'm hoping for more time to play in the new year.

From what I'm hearing it wasn't that bad until the 'after party' at my place, where everyone here was good enough a friend they've seen me in a drunken diorderly stupor enough times to not take offence.
I was just attributing the lack of interest and the lack of new posts from some recently joined members to some bad behaviour on my part. Maybe I was wrong.
Still not sure if we will go forward with this. Been tied up with other stuff and haven't even had a chance to confirm that the venue is avaliable. Will keep people posted.

We'd be happy to attend, if you're still planning to hold an event on the 13th or 20th. The 20th would probably be better for us. I promise you didn't offend us - I just don't check here often enough, apparently. I'm more likely to see messages by email or on the LJ community

It's looking like the 20th may be a go. After work tonight I am stopping in at the KofC to see if we can book their big tables for the 20th. Assuming that goes well I will post an updated event here (as well as the usual Live Journal, and Facebook cross advertising).
I've got a few people confirmed for that date as well, so we should have enough people out for a game or three.
Next we just have to decide what to play. I personally have a few games I would like to get some use out of. Dust, Starcraft and El Grande being a few that have gathered most dust then plays. I'll grab settlers of Catan as that's a good boardgaming standby espectially if we get some people out that aren't that familiar with modern boardgames.
