So what are you hoping Sandy Claws brings for you on Xmas morning?
Any gaming must haves out there this year?
Personally I've got quite a mix.
Top rated games from Boardgame geek I haven't been able to pick up myself (Dominion, Galaxy Trucker) and some games I've wanted for some time (The Great Space Race, Merlin's Company for Shadows over Camelot).
A huge selection of Video games, as my basement was out of commission for half a year I am way behind. (Fables 2, Fallout 3, Call of Duty 4, 5 and 6, Dragon Age).
Roleplaying wise it's all about 4e D&D this year. Mainly Sourcebooks (Divine Power, Monster Manual II) and the next part of the ongoing series of modules (Whatever the one after Thunderspire Labyrinth is).
No PC, mini or card games this year though.

There are a few games out there (or coming out soon) that I would like to get. I doubt it will happen but i had them on my x-mas list that I passed out to family.
Boardgames: Cosmic Encounter Expansion (not out yet), Agricola expansion (not out yet), and the Twilight Struggle Deluxe Edition (again... not out yet), and Through the Ages (just re-printed), and Dungeon Lords (not sure if its out)
Video games: Assassins Creed 2, Uncharted 2, NHL, Madden, Assassin's Creed Bloodlines (PSP), Little Big Planet (PSP), Rockband Unplugged (PSP)
Roleplaying-wise I'm happy with the books I have... and since I don't think Santa would bring me a group to actually RP with, I'm good.
PC games - Sims 3, Blood Bowl, and a gift card for when StarCraft 2 drops in 2010. (rumor has it)
Card games - Condotierre, Anima: Shadow of the Omega, Penny Arcade Card Game
Mini games - none
Of course I'm pretty sure I won't actually get any of these games it is nice to dream. I'd settle for the time to get some games on the table. Although I'm hoping nobody tries to make me play Monopoly City at all.

Hmmm.. lets see..
PC - Left for Dead 2 and Starcraft2 and a PC that can handle the games. Board - Expansions for Decent. Euro rails. Hungry Hippos(j/k). Video - PS3 with Rock Band and Call of Duty. Mini. - More 40k tanks and buildings. I love putting that stuff together. Card - Not my thing. Maybe a poker deck with sexy naked women on it. RPG - A good steady group of guys to rpg with.

Starcraft 2?
Is that actually due out by Xmas? I've been waiting for it so long I kind of forgot about it.
Descent... that's something I would like to get more use out of. We should plan a Descent night sometime. Personally I only have the original and one of the expansions (couldn't tell you which one). I do have a table large enough to play on though, which is a bonus.

I just have the basic Descent game... no expansions. Played it once. I'm going to try to play this game with my nephews over their Christmas break as I too would love to get more use out of this giant box.

It's a good game. Plays a little like D&D. What I like most about the game is that you build the dungeon. So after you finish all the maps in the books you can make your own.

I bought the new scrabble card game , as a stocking stuffer. I'm not really into word games, but my girlfriend loves scrabble, so i'm guessing this will get a big smile.

I've considered picking up that Banagrams game that's some type of Scrabble Knock off. The problem is that my wife would make me play it I'm not a word game fan either. She is. She would have me bring Boggle to every games and grub

I have tried the Banagrams and wasn't a huge fan. It seemed like there was no interaction between players. Each person just kind on re-arranged their own tiles . I much preferred the Scrabble Apple game; were you could build off an oponent's word. It seemed to make my opponents happier, when they crushed me in every game

Interesting.
Glad you pointed that out. Now if I do pick one up I will definitely grab the Apple.
(I think loosing all the time is one of the reasons I don't enjoy these games myself. As you can tell from my wonderful spelling on this forum, word games are not my forte).

Descent the core game, maybe a couple of xpacs. TI expansion, was hoping H&M would get one in for me

That TI expansion is excellent. The change in 'jobs' is the best part and most needed change from the core game. It removes that role that you can just keep taking for victory points and makes the game much more strategic.

So how did everyone do?
It was a pretty gaming related Xmas for me.
New Boardgames: Dominion, The Race for the Galaxy Expansion (The Gathering Storm), Battlestar Gallactica and it's expansion (Pegasus).
New Videogames: Wii Sport Resort with the new motion control and Ghostbusters.
Most interesting though was the 'support' stuff. My in laws gave me a homemade rack for holding my paints, holds over 200 of them an will mount on the wall just over my painting area. Also, my parents gave me a horde of storage boxes in various sizes and shapes that were tailor bought to hold and sort my growing Dungeon Tile Collection. My wife picked me up some gaming related T-Shirts as well, both based on the fact that I seem to have become a Killer DM in the last year. I guess I should take the hint and start toning down the difficulty of my games.
We gave my Daughter her first boardgame as well. A really nice wooden game called Bendomino's. She's not quite old enough to get the full rules but loves pulling out the dominoes and matching the colours and shapes.

Sure, though it was at the last two events with a bunch of expansions. I'll bring my copy just in case though.
Trying to figure out if we can get some people over here before then. I'd like to play some Race for the Galaxy as well, and try out the expansion, as well as play some more Battlestar. I loved it the one time I played Jamie's copy two G&G ago.
If we do get something together for our place I will let you know. The problem is a lot of my gaming group is out of town for the Holidays.

I got more games for my birthday than for Christmas, particularly since moms got me a Wii and the Sports Resort. I was pretty sore the day after... My wife got me Last Night On Earth, which I've played twice now and it's pretty good fun. It replicates a lot of classic zombie movie situations and the different characters and challenges mix things up. It's much better than Zombies!!! She also got me some Hordes miniatures, the Tharn Bloodweavers. And then Santa Claus got me more Hordes minis; the Bear that I've always wanted and the new Wolf Lord Morraig. So I've got enough painting to keep me inside all winter. Santa also got me a PS2 game where you play a pirate that has to jump around looking for ways to escape from the game. I'm playing the Wii more. My grandma got me a magnetic chess board, and I tried to teach my daughter on Christmas, but she'll probably be playing the Sorry! Slider that Santa gave her instead. And definitely the Wii

Dont worry about being a "killer DM" Gilvan. Nothing can match the attrition rate of Overkill! Loseing a character now and then is just the way things go. Nobody lives forever!

Seems to have been the Xmas of the Wii. I know at least 4 families that added a Wii to their household this Xmas.
Personally I didn't like the Wii much. Picked it up last year during the xmas rush. I loved it for the first bit and broke it out everytime someone new came over who had never seen it, but then it just pretty much gathered dust the rest of the year. I received Wii Sports Resort myself so it will see some use for a bit until we get sick of that, but I have a feeling it will be like the other wii games and get tired quickly and I will be putting the system away to play bigger and better things on my Xbox or PC.

Generally that's the story with the WII. I don't know anyone who owns a wii, and it's their gaming platform of choice. It sits there, shown off to people dropping by, and that's it. For nintendo, there's no motivation to do anything. But you have to think eventually you haved to appeal to core gamers with a game console....?

My wife gave me Battlestar Gallactica, Archaeology, and Modern Art. It's interesting to note that two of those three games she'd purchased after playing at a Games and Grub. ...BSG seems rock solid. I can't wait to give it a go. I also got Middle-Earth Quest, which I am extremely excited about. I'd been hoping for some Descent expansions, but that'll have to wait for another day, and that's enough games to keep me busy for a while, anyways.
I don't know what it is with the Wii... it looks like it should be good, but it's almost as though game companies have something against making games for adults on it. We do use ours pretty regularly. I like Wii Fit as a procrastination tool, as it's not just wasting time, and I enjoy playing old-timey games and MarioKart on it - but looking at the games for sale for it makes me unhappy with the wasted potential.

I've read that the BSG game is pretty rockin'. Apparently a player plays as the silon, and tries to secretly win the game. That's pretty kick ass.

BSG is rather good. Wiltchamberlain on here brought out his copy to one of our Games and Grubs events. Not only could one player be a Silon, but half way through the game another one could come out. It was a lot better balanced then Shadows over Camelot which is great. I haven't tried it with the expansion yet but based on the quick read I gave it, it all sounded like positive changes.

For Christmas I got BattleLore and the Call to Arms expansion, Rattlesnake, PitchCar (with expansions 1 and 2). Loving PitchCar as I can play it with my 3 yr old and she does fairly well if I give her a 2 to 1 flick advantage. I suspect she won't need that advantage for long, as she's already getting better at it.
Battlestar Galactica is a great game, and the expansion does add quite a bit to it. I like pretty much everything in the expansion except the New Caprica end phase variant. I think it changes the game too much. This might be a good thing once I've played the regular game a bunch more but right now I see it as un-necessary. I also don't think I'd use the Cylon leaders unless you were playing with 7 players. Now I'm all a-jones to play this again!

Just er..... bought Star Trek Conquest and it's a really good game (so far). My son just started the campaign on it so we will know more soon. I can't stand the T.V/Movies (the last one was great, by the way, need to watch it again I have it too).

Battlelore is one of my all time favourite games.
Command and Colours Ancients as well. I love the command and colours system, it just plays so elegantly.
