Well it sucks that Moe isn't able to get something going for Dec 12th. I for one would still be interested in getting a game day going. Would anybody still be interested in getting together for a game day?
Where? At the Walker Rd. KofC? Tecumseh KofC?
If I can get some feedback so I know at least a couple people are going to show up, I'll be there!
Ummm... thats all I got right now. -Jamie

I hear that KofC Walker were pricks to us last time.

They definitely weren't the best that's for sure.
The only reason I suggest there is that they have told us many times over that we don't need reservations and to just show up. You are going to have a hard time finding anywhere else that will accept 20 or so gamers on less then a weeks notice.
Plus I had actually planned on giving them one more shot myself. Giving them the benefit of a 'bad day' last time.
My one suggestion though is to ask if they will need the long tables, and if so, set up on the 'pool' side of the place right from the get go.

Well some good and bad news. My work Xmas party was canceled (which is bad news, at least for me) so I will be free to attend a gaming event on the 12th (good news for gaming).
If you want Jamie I will turn this into a full blown Games and Grub 10. Put up a facebook event, post it on live journal etc.

I talked to Jamie and we are going to make this an Official Games and Grub event. Facebook event has been made, postings put on Live_Journal, Twitter, The Hugin and Munin forums, etc. We are going to give the Walker Road KofC one more shot. If things don't to well then we will be looking for another venue. I've been talking to some people and have found out that their management has completely changed since we first started having our events. The woman we used to deal with Nicole, actually quit due to the new management style. I have a feeling we will be looking for a new venue but I wanted to give them one more try as we have been having events there for the past 5 years or so and always been treated right in the past. Here are the usual event details: This is an open invite to all Windsor and surrounding area gamers. The Windsor Gaming Resource will be hosting an afternoon of gaming on Saturday December 12th at the Walker Road Knights of Columbus, in Windsor Ontario, from Noon until 6:00PM. This will be our 10th Games and Grub event. At previous events we played some great games including Chez Dork, Pandemic, Igor, Munchkin, Power Grid, Alhambra, Formula D, Bang!, Shadows Over Camelot, El Grande, Settlers of Catan, Hacienda, Bohnanza, Puerto Rico, Battlestar Gallactica, Chaos in the Old World, Do you Worship C'hthulhu, Attika and more. We will have access to 2-3 large tables that should fit up to three reasonably sized boardgames each, or one massive one like The World of Warcraft Boardgame. The Knights of Columbus will be open to the public at the time, but this has never been a problem in the past and we have held multiple events at this venue. The worst that happens is regulars come over and ask what the heck are we playing and then ask if it's anything like Risk or Monopoly. The KofC has a good sized offering of home cooked comfort food style items. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic Beverages will also be available. As the Council is not charging us to host this event I encourage everyone to support the venue by purchasing some food and/or drink while at the event. The KofC is is located at 1711 Walker Road between Tecumseh and Seminole. At these events we usually play boardgames, but we have also had people there playing Star Wars Minis and various CCGs. If there are any requests for other games to be played please post something on the wall and we will see what we can do to accommodate. A disclaimer: The WGR has no ties or affiliation with the Knights of Columbus or what they represent, it's just a good venue to play some games at that also happens to be free. Note: we do have actual reservations, for the large tables from noon-6. I went there personally to set things up this afternoon.
I don't expect any venue issues this time around.

Thanks to everyone who made it out yesterday.
We had a smaller event this weekend which I blame mostly on the Holidays and bad weather, as well as short notice (sorry about that, wasn't expecting work to suddenly cancel an Xmas party).
Even with only 11 people out we got a ton of games in. The following got played:
Agricola Small World Cosmic Encounters Descent: Journies in the Dark Bohnanza Hacienda Ra
Not a bad day of gaming at all.
We're looking at January 23rd for our next event. By that time all the holiday hubub will be done and over with and people should be back to normal lives. Any arguments for or against that date?
Just a quick note: it seems all venue issues are resolved. We had no issues yesterday and I'm glad we gave the Council another chance.

It looks like it will be the 23rd for sure. I just need to confirm that the venue is available and if not work on a different one. With the holidays and the fact that my car is in the shop, I'm not sure when I will get to the KofC to reserve the place.
