Hi!
New to board gaming, and I'm really digging it so far. Looking for people who want to play Twilight Imperium, StarCraft and World of Warcraft big box board games!

I was talking about getting a game of either TI or Starcraft sometime during this winter layoff.
I wonder if we can set something up at Hugin and Munin. They have the table space and it's great neutral ground for people like me who aren't into inviting total strangers into my gamercave.

Hopefully Hugin and Munin allows us, if not maybe another site... You thinking this year, or next? I'm good either way

Bit swamped with the holidays, so I'm guessing next year.
I know Hugin and Munin also has most if not all of their gaming tables taken up by holiday offers and such.

Yeah I was in yesterday, I think it's going to be a bit until they have tables free.
I would plan to bring one of these to the Games and Grub in January but I find that overly large and long games aren't that well suited to that style of event. I find quicker games more enjoyable as people get to try more then one game. That said there was a group of 3 players playing Descent at our last event, it could be they will again be interested in a 'big box' game.

I know at least myself and girlfriend will be wanting to play a big box game! But we won necessarily go in thinking we just want to play the epic long game. ;D

I would definately be up for some big box action. I love TI and Descent, and am keen on trying StarCraft. I'm a little leery of WoW, as I've read some bad press on it, but I'll give anything a go once.
Once my house is in order (I've just moved house to this city), some friends from out of town are coming down, and there's good odds we'll get up to TI hijinx. If so and if there's space for a couple more at the gaming table, I'll post it on here, in case there's interest. It's so hard to get a game of it going that it's good to share the love when it happens.

We also play descent/tide of iron On the card game front we play Warhammer Invasion and Dominion.

I've never played TI but I would love to try it out if anyone is willing to teach me.

I'm thinking based on this thread that we plan to have some Big box games at the next Games and Grub. I personally would like to get some use out of my copy of Starcraft. Though I would love to play TI, that game can take Hours and hours to play and I think is better suited to a special event (perhaps one I will host at my place, I have a 4x8 gaming table that's more then big enough).
If we can convince Sentinal, Cold Cut Calvan and their group to run another Descent Table that would make enough gaming for about 12 players. My wife can run some small games on the side for any extra players (Hacienda, etc).

We've played lots of TI. Used to get a group together every Saturday night and play, had as many as 8 players. It can definitely be a slow one.
I have confirmation that one group will be bringing and running Descent. I will bring my copy of Starcraft. I don't have the expansion so we won't be using that (actually I want to learn the core game first anyway).
Once I have confirmed the reservations I will set up a proper event thread. I may also set up sign up threads for the big box games as I want to make sure that the people who do want to play get in the games they want.

I was hoping to get some games of dominion in as well, but I have a feeling there won't be enough time! Not enough time to play the games I like, now that's a great problem to have!

I talked to Ian today about having a game at the store. Unfortunately the only night that's free there next week is Wednesday. I have other plans for that night though. The store is avaliable Saturday from noon until 6:00 as well. That may work, but I'm not positive as I would need a sitter for longer then I expected for that day.

I'd be willing to play saturday at the store, noon or one-ish. But probably not for long enough to play a TI or descent game. StarCraft, or some Dominion, Race for the galaxy, warhammer invasion or similarly shorter games I'd be up for.

I'll have to get back to you. My wife has a nasty cold/flu and we need to figure out if we can get an earlier sitter then expected. If so I'm up for it.

This Saturday is a go. Not sure if my wife will make it or not, but I will be there and I will bring some games. I'll be setting up a separate thread right after this.
