Due to moving the Games and Grub out a week (still tentative), a bunch of us already had the day set aside to game.
Since we were free I talked to Ian at Hugin and Munin and checked to see that he has tables free and he does (actually he suggested it). This means we can have another Impromptu gaming event.
This time I really would like to play a big box game. So I convinced Ian to come in an hour early for us (actually he offered).
So the Event will run from 11:00AM to 5:30 or so PM. It will be a Hugin and Munin: 1664 Tecumseh Rd. E. Windsor, Ontario, N8W 1C5 Telephone Number: 519 974 7898
The plan is to play a game of Twilight Imperium for sure. I know we already have 3 of 6 players, but have room for 3 more.
In addition I will be bringing my copy of Dominion and Dominion: Intrigue, other people may be bringing other games and the store will have some stuff available for play as well, so if you don't get into the TI game there should still be games to be played.
If you do want to get into the TI game please let me know by responding here.
See you Saturday!

Sign me up for a TI slot. I'll try to find some rules online so I'm easier to teach.
Should I look for expansion rules too?

TI game 1 spot left. If enough people beg me to play I could break out the expansion for 8 players, but that makes for a longer game and I'm already pretty sure we won't have enough time.
I'm pretty sure we will be using the Moe Variant: The winner is the player with the most points when we run out of time to play, or the person to hit the target score as set by the official rules. We've had to use this rule in most of our TI games.
We have: Myself Oddzilla Ashaman Charles WiltChamberlain

Here are the rules if anyone is interested. www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/Twilight%20Imperium%203/ti3rules.pdfI've got to review them myself. We may or may not use expansion rules. I know some of them greatly improved the game, but I need to review them as well. Plus I am thinking that I may stick with just core rules as we have players who have never tried the game, I wouldn't want them to buy it only to find out that all the stuff they liked also requires the purchase of an expansion.

I gather I'm too slow on the draw. If someone cancels, let me know. ...But don't expand to 8. I can't imagine playing for, what, 5 1/2 hours with 7 other players? There'd be about two turns to the game.

Looks like you are in Eldritch.
We have 6 and a half hours actually which may be enough time to get a pretty good game in. It's enough time to finish a game with experienced players, but as we have some new players I expect we won't get there. Who knows though.
Reviewing the rules. Most of it's coming back to me. IIRC though most of the confusion happens when you have a handful of Action Cards and a Tech Deck in front of you. The actual rules aren't the complex part, it's all the little ways you can break them. I haven't checked out the Vids to know how good they are.
I will not be bringing the expansion bits. I've removed the races from the box, and some of their chits. I still need to go through the galaxy tiles. I'll probably end up bringing the expansion cards just because they keep everything else in place well enough.

Just got to the Optional rules section of the book.
Since we will have some new players, I'm electing to not use any of these, though I personally love the "Distant Suns" option that makes landing on a neutral planet so much more interesting.

Okay tripple post.. sorry.
ashaman771 thanks for those Videos. Those are pretty awesome. Long but they pretty much explain everything. I still suggest a once over of the rules but then these vids are great for seeing how things work.

When TI looked full, I made other plans... So I won't be able to show after all. I am very disappointed. Sorry for the inconvenience - obliterate some Jol'Nar for me.

I didn't want to commit to coming because I was hoping to get called to work this weekend, but it's Friday afternoon and they still haven't called. So I'll probably be coming, and I'm watching the tutorials if there's a spot open in the TI for me. And if not I'll just watch and ask irrelevant questions.
