The new generation of Pokemon games are out for the DS and they have a lot of multiplayer functions. I have Black and I've really been getting into it, I was wondering if anyone else has Black or White and would like to trade or battle.

I seriously considerd picking up one of the two. I havne't played since Yellow (yes I bought the special Gameboy Yellow that came with Pokemon Yellow and a Pikachu). I haven't actually picked up either yet and now have my money book marked for something else.
I was wondering though, has the game changed much since it's origin?

in core gameplay - no not at all. its still "hey kid! here's a dangerous animal go kill other peoples dangerous animals!". Its still allot of paper rock scissors to it, but more annoyingly so now. Some Pokemon have weird typings that you wouldnt be able to guess by their looks or where you found them, which can lead to getting your butt kicked in. Also allot more pokemon have resistances that will just piss you off. Like electric type pokemon (normally get wrecked by ground type moves) with levitate...meaning ground type moves cant hit them... it is infuriating at times. once you get past that tho it is still a good RGP with WAY more storyline added than the original series (almost an annoying amount). If you liked having dangerous animals kill other dangerous animals while walking arround and encountering more dangerous animals every 3 squares (yes the wild encounter rate is stupidly high) you will like this game. If you didnt like the past pokemon games dont get it.

Haha, I think drachenfels sums it up well. The thing I am really enjoying in this one is multiplayer stuff and competitive battling. I never really got into that sort of thing in the old games but Black and White make it a lot easier to battle people with online ranked battles with random players around the world and lot's of added wireless stuff like the battle subway where you can do co-op double battles with a friend. And with all the new pokemon and new type combinations and moves there is a lot of depth to the strategical side of the game.

I always enjoyed Pokemon as an RPG like Final Fantasy with a weird battle system. Thus more story sounds like a good thing. More frustrating battles sounds like a bad thing and an really high encounter rate sounds like a really bad thing. Maybe instead I will just pick up my copy of yellow again and actually play it through to the end. If I ever see black or white in a discount bin for $10 maybe I will pick one up.
Thanks for the info guys!

you'll never find a pokemon game on sale for that low... even older editions (gold silver) are still selling at full retail price.
