Our last two Pints and Pawns events went over very well. Our last Mythos/Horror themed event got 31 people out. 25 games and 6 people there to enjoy some pints. Running with that success we're having another one on November the 18th.
The concept is to get together and have few drinks, play a few games and share conversation with people who share similar (board gaming, video games, miniatures, card games, etc) interests. In the past we've played Catan, Dalmuti, Fluxx, Ivanhoe, Bohnanza, Munchkin, The Great Dalmuti, Bang!, Wizard and other easy to learn yet still fun and challenging multi-player games. The main difference between these events and a Games and Grub is that most people have a few drinks with their games and the games are more Beer and Pretzel style games. This doesn't mean people can't bring and play complex strategy game, it's just not the norm for our past events.
We will be meeting at the Tecumseh Knights of Columbus on Lesperance Road (just off of Riverside Drive). We will be on the Pub side of the hall. There will be food and drinks available. As the KofC is giving us room to play for free I ask that everyone please support the venue. Friday night is Fish Fry night at the KofC (in the main hall) and I have been warned that parking can be hard to find, you can park across the street or on any nearby side streets.
Not sure what I will grab for this event. Dalmuti for sure. Perhaps Hex Hex as it's proved to be popular. I've also had a thing for Niagra lately.
A disclaimer: The WGR has no ties or affiliation with the Knights of Columbus or what they represent, it's just a good venue to play some games at that also happens to be free.

Hi, just to confirm anyone show up to these events right? My girlfriend and I would love to find more gamers in the windsor area (we're in our late 20s). Settlers of catan, munchkin, carcasonne, and similar games are our particular favourites.
Should we just come with board games we'd like to play? Any recommendations for a newbie to these events?
Look forward to hearing more and participating!

First off: time of this event moved back to 6:00PM.
Sorry for that confusions.
Next:
Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend. The more gamers we get out the better. We appreciate anyone willing to bring and teach their own games, but you are also welcome to just try out some of ours. There is a core group of 3-5 of us that always bring 4-5 different games and a growing group that shows up with a favourite or two (Magic the Gathering and Fluxx have been rather popular lately).
Generally we show up for 6 and people order food. Over dinner we talk about games, what we play, how we got into them, what's hot, whatever. After eating the group generally splits up to 3-4 tables (depending on the number of people there). This generally happens by someone saying something like "I'm going to set up Catan, room for 3 more" or "Hey anyone want to try Niagara, it plays 5". After each game we generally look around to see if any other tables are done or finishing up soon. If they are we see if people want to move around. We've usually got a mix of quick fast games and long games being played.
Overall the event is very casual. No one is overly competitive and there's no prize to be won or anything like that. It's all about getting together with people with similar interests sharing games you love or learning new games.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask
