With the advent of Facebook and G+ is this forum dying a slow death? Is it time to put her to rest?
I see pretty much no activity on here besides me posting a few local events. These posts don't even get very many views and the views they do get seem to be from the same people who see the event posts on facebook. Besides that I don't remember the last time we had an actual ongoing discussions. I think it may be time to get rid of this forum.
What say you? Shoot her and put her out of her misery?

It would be sad to see it go but I doubt the WGR will be able to compete with FB or G+. Which sucks since I have neither of these It was fun while it lasted... Its mainly you that is posting and you can reach more people using those other things so... what to do. Ultimately its you that will have to deciding vote but yes... its quite dead here and if its taking up more time than its worth then perhaps euthanasia is what is required at this point.

The main thing is that it's costing money. If this was 100% free then I would just keep it. I do advertise everything elsewhere. Heck I often forget to come here to post things.
I'm thinking when the URL licence expires this time around I won't bother renewing.

I would hate to see it go. After all if it were not for this site i would never have met local gamers. But if it is dead and costing money then yes it would make sense to shutdown the website. Just a thought can you transfer all of the reviews and info on the games to the Facebook site. Thanks for introducing me to gaming.

Okay the domain expires tomorrow. Here's what I've decided to do. This forum won't change. It will still be here. It's free. No reason not to keep it. The rest of the WGR pages will be going away though. No more chat page (when was the last time we used that). No more Final Fantasy stuff (even though that still gets me hits). The local shop page I'm going to keep but not in the format it's in now. The main page will be gone.
What I want to do is move the entire thing over to Blogger. I'm hoping I can keep things like the shops page and this forum but add something like a news feed. Places I can advertise local events on the front page or put up links to new reviews (speaking of which posting some new ones today). I also want to try to get a callendar on there and remove the one that's here that no one is using.
Will keep you posted, the two of you who read this.

Alright based on a meeting I had this morning with the Board Gamers of Windsor I'm going to try to push up the timeline on actually getting this thing turning into something a bit more modern. This forum will probably stay largely the same but the main w-g-r.com page will be being updated.
I know it's a long shot and no one reads this stuff anyway - but is there anyone out there with any artistic talent willing to work on a Logo and cover/banner?

I don't have any talent but I make up for it with overconfidence! What are you looking for in a cover/banner? I think it would be best if the logo was the same as the url: W-G-R.com, with wallpaper behind each letter representing one type or genre of game. Unfortunately three letters doesn't give us a lot of range to represent all the games out there, and it wouldn't show well really small or in one colour like on business cards, b&w ads, or T-shirts (my first rule of design is that it should be cool enough that I'd wear it on a T-shirt.)
Three visual game ideas off the top of my head: red dragon on pile of gold black exosuit on white dune white ship on blue sea
something else?
