It was recently announced (Aug 1st) that Yasumi Matsuno (director of Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Advance, and Vagrant Story) has been removed from the directorial position on the next Final Fantasy Game. First the man who started the series quits and makes his own company, now one the the best directors leaves the next big game. Starting to worry about the future for FF here. Article on it is linked below. Of important note is that the game is still scheduled for release March 16 '06 in Japan of course. I'm a diehard FF fan, and the combination of both of these fellow leaving leaves with with a deep sense of foreboding.
I believe that Nobuo Uematsu(composer of some of the best video game music in existence) has also left the franchise.

Yes he did. I think he was the first to go.
The other thing to note is that they aren't all quitting to start their own company. They are all parting paths.
It would be one thing if they all left and took FF to someoen other then SE but to just abandon it.
