Overall - buy it, it's the best Zelda in a while.
Summary - You are a small kid in the kingdom of Hyrule. Go to a festival where there is a sword fighting comp. Some newcomer wins. His prize is to see the legendary sword. He is actually evil, breaks the sword, turn Zelda to Stone and curses the land. Typical Zelda Plot. Go forth and explore, find tools that open new areas to find new tools that open new areas etc. Again typical Zelda.
The good: The tools are great, Lanterns, Gust Jars that suck enemies up, the usual bombs and boomerang and more. The Minish thing rocks. Near the begining of the game you get a talking hat (yep) this hat has the power to shrink you to minish size (think the littles). This is the main aspect of the game and the most common puzzle. You get some where have to shrink to get something done then get big again, or shrink to get to a new area, etc. It's a ton of fun and very well done. The best thing about this game is it feels like a Zelda game. It's top down, you hear the usual music, when your hearts are full you can shoot your sword with power. It's the most like the original Zelda on the NES than any since. I had more fun with this then Windwaker or Majora's Masks. One other interesting thing to note is the Kinstone system. Throughout your travels you find these halves of stones. You trade these to NPCs throughout the land and if you have matching halves something good happens. This is actually quite a bit of fun.
The Bad: well its a gameboy game. Its nice enough looking it deserves the big screen (gameboy player a must to me). Its action based like the first zelda, so if you are a turn based rpg fan this may not be for you. Some of the puzzles and bosses are frustrating.
The Ugly: eventually you get an item called the Roc's Cape. This lets you jump. At that point the next dungeon and a bunch of the 'hidden' treasures are only attainable by platforming. I hate platforming.
Overall: great game. Best Zelda in years. I loved it, beat it and actually went back to try to complete stuff I had missed (like I didn't find every heart container).
