This game is pretty old, but, if you're into two player games, then I highly recommend it.
This game is basically a Dynasty Warriors except with Samurai's. If you've never played Dynasty Warriors, it's basically a stratagy type of game, with no turns, and you just run around killing leaders, taking command posts to build more troops, keep your armies morale alive, and destroy all opponents.
Samurai warriors is great two player fun. You can plan your way into battle, or perhaps just run around and do whatever you want. The levelup system is pretty good, involving experience you gain on the battlefield from dead opponents, and the equipment/weapon system is pretty decent as well.
The funnest part for me though, was the fact that each person had their own storylines. And you could play as every person involved, and they were all intertwined. So, when you would play as Magoichi, you would fight Nobunaga, and try to kill him. But, when you would play as Nobunaga, you would try to kill Magoichi. It's pretty fun, because you get to play from all sides of the war, and you get to basically see how everything works.
Also, the game isn't particularly easy. There are lots of levels which are really hard. Especially when you have to play in a "castle" where you have no map, and enemies that never stop coming. It got to the point where we had to just run through the castle, beat all the bosses we could find, and try to escape as fast as we could.
The graphics are a little choppy. Sometimes characters may disappear from your screen. Occasionally when you're fighting an army of 20 guys, 3 or 4 of them may just disappear randomly, sometimes one of them being the boss you may be facing. If you run around in a circle for a couple seconds he'll reappear.
The controlls are pretty basic, and all the moves you can do are pretty awesome, especially because you're samurais.
I'm not entirely sure if the game is as good one player, as I've never played it that way.. but, the two player mode is amazing.
