Another old one.
Quickly: great game, though part two is probably better.
Summary: play god. You are a god watching over a world. Do things to impress the villagers and they will worship you giving you more power. Use this power to cast miracles that range from providing food to striking lightning down on foes. To help you at this task you get a magical creature, that you can train to do as you wish. This is a giant that will help or scare your villagers, fight other monsters, and generally keep you well amused. As the name inplies you can play good or evil, and technically in between (guess Black, Grey and White didn't sound cool). As the game progresses you battle other gods. It really reminds me of a really advanced populous.
The good: for an old game the 3d graphics still look pretty good. There is no clipping or any other issues and you can easily navigate the world quickly without delay using a great control scheme. The creature you have is a great AI model and will keep you busy and amused as he/she goes about learning and doing things. The game over all is just a ton of fun.
The bad: there is a learning curve trying to figure out what you should be doing. Also I still haven't really figured out how to make my population grow well. The game is old and it does look it at times.
The Ugly: there is some odd issue running this one with my system. Not sure if it's me, service pack 2, my virus software or what. Sometimes it just won't load causing an error, other times (actually only once) it just crashes. Removing the latest patch seemed to fix this but of course now I have other issues as I don't have the patch installed.
Overall: if you missed this one it's worth trying out. It's avaliable cheap now. I am having a ton of fun with it and plan to play it quite a bit more (see my xfire). I didn't get a chance to try out the multiplayer yet so I can't judge that. There is a part 2 out there I have not tried, that may be worth picking up over this one.
