Quickly - great Wario Ware game, amazing use of the Wii-mote and Nunchuck.
Summary: another really messed up Wario Ware game. As usual this is a set of Micro-games with a bizarre story mode and a ton of extra mini games. Micro-games are just what they sound like, really small games. Each game is about 5 seconds long at the longest. A screen pops up telling you how to hold your controller, then the game starts. You have a very short time to figure out what to do then do it. They can be as simple as hitting a button, or swinging the wii-mote, to as complex as mimicking the pedaling motion, then steering motion on a bike. The game starts with only the Single player mode unlocked. You start on a map of a city and can only select Wario. When you do so you watch a rather funny cut scene and then start playing Micro Games. You play a set of these, that get faster as they go on, until you get to a Boss Game (slightly longer, but still Micro). If you beat the boss new areas of the Map Open up. There are a ton of areas to unlock and once you beat every boss you unlock a multi player mode. Oddly the multi player mode isn't the same as the main and contains a variety of odd mini-games that revolve around the micro-games. Once you have unlocked everything you can still go back and try to get higher scores on all the various games, you can unlock stances (still not sure what these are for), you can try a large collection of mini-games that are unlocked, and more.
The Good: so much insanity! This game is just nuts, and it comes at you a lightning speed. It's awesomely presented. The Micro-games are great. The use of the Wii-mote is perfect. Who would have thought so many different motions were possible with one controller. You hardly ever have to use the buttons, 99% of the games just require actual motion while holding the remote. The various Wii-mote stances are introduced in a hilarious way (think of Deep Thoughts). Good Exercise, this game will have you swinging, chopping, punching, ducking and jumping.
The Bad: I really don't get why this isn't a multi player game right from the start. It's like the figured, since it's a launch title that everyone would only have one Wii-mote. It just seems odd having to play a pretty long single player mode before you can even bring a friend in. Then when you do unlock multi-player it's just not that great. The single player 'story mode' is way better and more fun. You will probably have more fun taking turns playing single player then you would playing the multi-player. Not sure how high the re-play value is on this one. Over 3 days I have beaten story mode and unlocked what seems to be every mode in the game. I'm still having a ton of fun seeing what levels I can get up to for each of the characters, or how far I can get in challenge modes, but I'm not sure how long that will last. I'm guessing this would get broken out at any gathering or party you have though.
The Ugly: Watch out for low ceilings when in The Executive stance and tossed into a Jumping Micro-game. I bashed my head a couple times. If any game is going to cause seizures, it's this one. Watch out for yourself and others. You are doing some pretty insane motions during this game and having to pull them off quickly, which means make sure there is pretty of room around. Also wear the Wrist Strap! There is even a Micro-game where you goal is to drop the Wiimote and you don't want to break anything.
Overall: this is thus far the best example of what the Wii can do, and it's a ton of fun. The insanity of this game is just great. The pick up and play ability is also very nice. The only concern I have with this one is replay-ability. I'm sure I will get sick of it soon enough, though I also know that every time someone comes to my place who hasn't played it, I'm going to want them to try it. I may or may not pick this up at Full price myself. It's definitely wroth the Rent though. I would definately pick it up Used if I found it at the right price.
