Here's an interseting marketing concept. Get your fans to promote your game as Ambasadors.
The publishers of Ghoulash: The Last Game on Earth have just launched a promotional program with special incentives for players who help spread the word about the innovative action-adventure strategy game. Ambassadors to the Ghoulash Nation — or AGNs — have but one task: Play Ghoulash.
"All we ask is that our Ambassadors go out and simply play the game," says Ghoulash creator and publisher Mike Suchcicki. "Preferably, though, we'd like them to play it in a public spot, where they might attract the attention of potential new players. We're suggesting that they play at their favorite game or comic store, in their student centers or libraries, at the beach, in a park, at a restaurant or coffee shop, anywhere in the public eye. Then, of course, if someone asks about the game, we want them to be prepared to discuss it and guide new players to our Scenario Packs."
Potential AGNs can purchase a special Ambassador Kit, with plenty of tools, many available only to AGNs, to help them in their mission, including never-before seen, AGN-only scenarios, discounts on Scenario Packs and other Ghoulash merchandise and handouts for new players. The kit can be purchased from the AGN web site at Ghoulash.com/agn.
"In return for their entry into the Ambassadorial ranks, we want them to enjoy certain privileges, such as scenarios that will be provided only to AGNs," Suchcicki says. "Also, when they order their AGN Kit, they'll be given the URL and password to our online shopping cart, where they can order Scenario Packs at lower prices available only to them."
Ghoulash uses an easy-to-learn play system that fits on one sheet of paper, known as a Scenario Chart. Two players "hide" items, obstacles and Ghouls by writing their symbols on one of two grids on the chart. As each player moves, using the second grid, the opponent announces what obstacles the player has encountered. No dice, spinners or reference books of any kind are needed. All a player needs to play is a Scenario Pack and a pen or pencil.
The Ambassador Kit contains two Scenario Packs, two Ghoulash clipboards, two Ghoulash pens, a stack of charts featuring the AGN-only scenario, a stack of charts featuring the "Test Drive" introductory scenario, instructions and tips on being an Ambassador, a link to a special online shopping cart featuring Ghoulash Scenario Packs and merchandise at discount prices and a personalized AGN ID card.
