Hey, Whats up! I almost gave up my search for a site like this! Im not too good at intro's, but here goes: Im 23, and in my last year at the college. Im mostly into paper & dice RPGs, but am hugely out of practice since I moved here 2 years ago. I have a bunch of Rifts books, but never got a chance to actually use them, theyre mostly just reading material now. Ive PCd in AD&D campaigns, and robotech, fun as hell. Im just itching to play again, doesnt have to be D&D or robotech, as long as its fun. I dont think im hardcore enough to LARP though..., seen some of that for the first time when I was up at FanExpo in Toronto a few weeks ago. I played WoW for about 4-5 months, might start again depending on if my friends start playing again. I love paper/dice rpgs because theres no limit, unlike video games, which I still like The ability to develop the character the way you want to instead of the linear path of the video game variety.(granted they're getting better, but still theres no comparison) Im also into Anime/manga, but since this isnt one of those boards, I wont go into it any further than that. So.. is there a store or something that sells Pen & Paper RPG stuff like that around here (or Anime if you would know), because so far it has eluded me. I guess thats my introduction, I dont think anythings missing.. Damn I wanna play!

Well, you can call me Dan. I was introduced to RPG's from the Hunter: The Reckoning game for the XBox. I picked up the RPG version from Whitewolf, and noticed the superiority of it to the video game. I've been hooked ever since. I own a small collection of books. About $2000 worth. Mostly Old World of Darkness (OWoD) and 1st Ed Exalted. Some NWoD too, and 2nd Ed Exalted.
I used to Frequent the WW forums, till they switched over to the new format. I was known as Archaeus then, if there's anyone here that used to post there...
I'm used to running games, but I'd love a chance to play for once. I'm about as rusty as you can get at running them, so I'd need practice before getting back into it.

Welcome, both of you. My main game is Vampire: the Eternal Struggle, a CCG based on the World of Darkness. Check it out, if you're interested: white-wolf.com/vtes/It's more of a complex strategy game than an RPG, of course, but it shares the same theme. Additionally, a lot of the hunters from Hunter: the Reckoning have made their way into the game lately. Carlton Van Wyk is a signature character from that, or so I am told? I kind of miss playing the Vampire RPG, actually. Games never seem to last more than half a dozen sessions, unfortunately...

Yeah, Van Wyk is a sig Character from HtR. He also goes by Doctor 119. I'll have to check out VtES next time I'm in a game shop. School keeps me busy

Welcome to both Yotc and Watarimono Watari - Check out our local shops page for some info on local stores: www.mnsi.net/~moeandde/wgr/shops.htmlHuginandMunin as already mentioned is pretty much the best place around here for pen and paper. Plus they are members If you haven't already, check our local events section for some RPGs starting up in the area. Personally I am running a Star Wars game with up to 9 players, so I'm not looking for any new players at this time. I know Talon is always looking for players for his next game. Yotc - I really liked White wolf when it was still new but grew tired the system fairly quickly after one campaign. The one thing that always annoyed me is that (at least at the time) they put out a game with a ton of cool characters, that all hate each other, and would never work together if played properly. I'm also not a fan of dice pools, at least from a GM perspective.

Which game are you refering to?
I'm sure I'd understand better if I knew which game. I've read all the old core's except KotE, Wraith and Changeling.
I wish I could get a hold of Changeling...

The different "creatures" should not be played together, at least in the old system. Changelings should not associate with Mummies should not associate with Werewolves etc. The systems were not designed to work together and it's always kind of silly when they do anyway.
The tensions between the various factions and clans in the vampire world, however, are pretty interesting. Well, I always thought so... it's a lot more interesting than "Oooh, you're Chaotic Evil? I'm Lawful Good... I guess we have to hate each other, huh?"

I am thinking of Vampire and Werewolf mainly, but also Changling (I owned 2 copies at once time, but think I got rid of the spare, the 1st printing, still have all the Bunk cards). It just seemed like you had to come up with a rather contrived reason to have a group do anything together.
My one sucessful game of Vampire I got around this by not having all the players together at all. They were each doing their own thing in the same world. It worked well but got overwhealming.

Do you mean a cross over game, or a straight Vamp or Werewolf game? Because I thought each individual game worked wel enough, unless your players wanted to belong to the Cam and the Sabat at the same time in one game. Or they had BSD's and Gaian werwolves in one tribe...? Crossovers are tough, but they can work. Especailly with the later games.

Now I was thinking same system. I played Vamp 2nd edition I think it was (there was no Sabat at the time). Just found that every clan had so many conflicting motives, there just wasn't a good way for a team of players to work together well without ignoring their heritage. It did work if you did it right (usually by having someone bigger then them telling them they have to work together), but it just didn't really fit the background. Seriously if you look at the original background for Vampire, a group of Vamps working in concert, all from different clans would come pretty close to breaking the masquerade just by all being together all the time. Vampires are written to be solitary creatures by necessity or nature, but the game tosses a bunch together.

I can't believe I haven't posted here yet.
Anyway, my handle comes from the twisted depths of my imagination, and I used it for Kingdom of Loathing, though I sorta got tired of the game awhile back.
I play mostly D&D and the Hero system, dabbled with some White Wolf (older stuff, because used books are cheaper), tried GURPS at Pennsic (Medieval Reenactment camping event) but didn't really get too much into it. I am, however, willing to learn just about anything.
I have a thread up in Gaming Discussion called "Looking for Players", if you like what you see, please contact me, there's not enough gaming going in my life.
I'm playing a monthly game with some friends back in London, it's extremely episodic, and we're all DM's, so we've all got characters and the DM switches every month. At least that's the plan, we haven't had our first session yet.
That's probably all there is to know, I've been gaming for about 7 years now, and I picked up GM/DMing pretty quickly out of necessity, I have an irritating tendency to railroad (I'm working on it!), and as a player I have a tendency to accidentally hog the spotlight (I'm working on that too).

:)Hi Everyone! My name is Chris. I am 35 years old. Born and raised in Windsor. I am looking to get into gaming. I have always wanted to be a gamer but never had the courage or the opportunity to get into it. I would like to join a gaming group and meet new people. I am a little green when it comes to advanced games. Looking to learn better games and gain some experience. I did not do much gaming as a child. I did not have a video game system until I move out. I had a N64 and playstation. I mostly play sports games. I do not currently own a video game system. Growing up I usually play the mainstream games or cards like cribbage, euchre and rummy. I did play Axis and Allies, Strat-O-Matic games and Flipper Hockey. I currently own several games such as Axis and Allies, Battle of Britain, Fury of Dracula, Samurai(GMT), Star Wars: Epic Duels and To Court the King. I do play Magic Online. I am easy going and do not get upset if I lose because gaming is about having fun and being with people. I hope to hear and meet everyone here at WGR. If someone wants to meet for a game and is willing to teach me drop me a line, Please! Hope to see you soon.

Hello all,
Johnny here.
I just came across this website. I was an avid gamer (of tabletop RPGs) for 20 years or so and am now a casual gamer (for the past decade). I started off playing the boxed basic D&D set with my brother back when disco was cool. Well, that's a lie. Disco was never cool. Nevertheless, I started playing D&D in '78/'79. I've played many different games since then.
Here's the short list (in chronological order):
D&D AD&D Top Secret Gamma World Warhammer Pen Dragon Role Master Traveller Palladium Robotech Recon Rifts TMNT MERP Robin Hood Vampire:the Masquerade World of Darkness Legends of the Five Rings Artesia d4-d4 Star Cluster 2.5 Cold Space In Harms Way Hard Nova Coyote Trail Jags-Wonderland Spirit of the Century
...and the list goes on.
I've grown tired of mainstream table top games and tend to buy only small publisher games now. I dabble in game design a bit.
I used to play computer games but I have a 360, so I'm a console jockey.
I live in the Windor area. My favourite shop was the Sci-Fi Shop. Sadly, it's gone. But we have Hugin and Munin now, which catered to my sudden like for the card game, Lunch Money.

Welcome Johnny. That's quite the list. I too miss the old Sci-Fi shop, but H&M fills the niche nicely.

Yep, the sci-fi shop was great. I first saw Heavy Gear there and wasn't instantly hooked. And now, looking at my list, I see I omitted HG from it. Great game.

Welcome to the forums!
Nice list, cool that you have it chronilogically. I have never thought about that much myself and I think I would have a hard time remembering the days of the Windsor Gaming Society at the University and what games I played when.
From Legend of the Five Rings on I haven't even heard of any of the games on your list which is pretty impressive as I'm usually in the loop. Are these independant games, D20 spin off, or just stuff I missed on store shelves?
