Thanks. From Legend of the Five Rings on I haven't even heard of any of the games on your list which is pretty impressive as I'm usually in the loop. Are these independant games, D20 spin off, or just stuff I missed on store shelves? Most of it is small publisher stuff, often avialable in both PDF and hardcopy form. Some of it, however, is only available in PDF. Artesia, however, is based on the comic of the same name. You can find out more about it at www.theknownworld.com/. d4-d4 is found at www.rpgnow.com/index.php?cPath=3958 on OBS (formerly RPGNow/DriveThru RPG - take your pick). Cold Space and Star Cluster 2.5 and a whack of great RPGs are produced by Flying Mice. They are also availabe in PDF on OBS, at www.rpgnow.com/index.php?cPath=3956. They also sell book versions of the same games. Hard Nova and Coyote Trail are made by Precis Intermedia Games. Here's the link: www.pigames.net/ Sorry, for typing in the links direct, but there's no hyperlink function on the board that I can find. Jags-Wonderland can be found on the Jags site and Spirit of the Century is by Evil Hat. Evil Hat is coming out with a Dresden Files RPG this year, which should be cool (I hope). There's a great wide-world of RPG-goodness out there. Happy gaming.

Hi all. My real life name is Michael, but my computer internet personna has evolved over the years to Mikeydanuke, or just MDN.
When I was 12 or 13, my brother and I pooled our allowances and purchased a game called Blitzkrieg (yes, brand new-to show you how old I am- from AH). Since then I have been a dedicated War-gamer, in all it's various forms, but my real love has always been miniatures. I have somewhere around 13,000 painted 15MM miniatures in my garage from a campaign game I ran for a number of years, plus hundreds of other miniatures from different scales and different era's. At the moment, my big focus's of interest are Flames of War, and Legends of the High Seas. I also play several computer games but the Civilization series has always been my favorite.
For the rest, tomorrow I will be 57. I have been married for 28 years, I have 4 children, 4 grandchildren + one on the way, and a dog.
I would stay longer, but I'm working night shift at the moment, and it's rapidly approaching my bedtime.
Toodles all MDN

First off Happy Birthday.
Second, though I know I said it with your first post about Legends of the High Seas, welcome to the WGR.
13K minis painted.... now that is impressive. I have a ton of minis, no clue exactly how many, potentially that much if you count all the 5mm epic scale guys, but I doubt I even have 200 painted. That's quite the acomplishment. Do you happen to have any pics, I would love to see that much lead in colour?

Well I guess since I just found this site I could join in the fun somehow...
Real name is Stuart (please not Stewart *shudder*)
I've lived in Windsor for 22 years, spent the last three in Toronto at the Private college "International Acadamy of Design and Technology - Video Game Design and Development", basically not worth the money (all $30,000 of it). Now I'm back in Windsor as per a fluke in an apartment lease signing so now I'm back in good ol' Windsor.
As per my gaming past?
Grew up around my rents being religious and my brothers playing NES, so everytime they were playing "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" and got to the point of the bouncer I would always pray that God would let them beat it ROFL. No worries though, I don't pray for guidance in video games anymore ofcourse because they are the DEVIL.... especially D&D!! LOL jkjk But getting back to the gaming, I've played every system and owned almost all of them at one point. Right now I enjoy a good dose of GTAIV on my X360 and or CODIV. On the computer side of things I have played almost all the mainstream MMOs and TONS of other games (which is why I went to school to see if I could get a job in Level Design). I have always in the back of my gaming mind wanted to try this forbidden fruit called D&D with my friends but they always thought it was too "geeky" or would always take too long to play. But somehow we always were able to get a game of RISK in from time to time... Do you know how long those TAKE?? Anyways, I read Penny-Arcade and PvP comics and read about them making a podcast of thier 4th Edition D&D experience. I think these guys are hilarious and have always wanted to peer into a game like this. Here was my chance ...
aaand I got totally sucked in. I got all three of the books and the Shadowfell adventure and have everything I need except for the boards and miniatures. Oh ya.. and players. ROFLCOPTERbbq I actually today tried to get my rents to play this and FAILED horribly, first of all because of the fear of what they were told as kids about this game and the growing suspicion that they wouldn't have enough attention to play too long. But with an open mind they agreed to try it out.. I went to the complete basics as a DM and still no luck with people who don't know anything about gaming... except to roll the dice and name the characters.. SO! I am now looking elsewhere for adventurers to join in some fun and actually met an old friend whom I dabbled in Warhammer 40K with. He was working at Games Workshop in Devonshire and he told me about Hugen and Mugen. I actually saw this site before this little encounter and didn't think much of it, but now I'm all for heading over there and trying out a game or two. I'd be all for leading people into dugeons or just playing a character where I have the chance to say HEY! I made this guy from the ground up and that's AWESOME!
Let's get it on!
P.S. I usually use this name in every game I can play with a name.
Stoogith Maiwin (Please pronounce it with a "J" not a "G". You wouldn't say "The Three Stoo Ges" now would you. Nyak Nyak.)

Welcome to the Windsor Gaming Resource.
Sadly you aren't the only one who grew up with D&D is evil brainwashing. I know at least one Gamer who's parents strickly forbade him playing any RPGs for years and years. He used to 'sneak them in' on weekends at the Windsor Gaming Society that used to be hosted at the University of Windsor.
You also aren't the only one to be hit by the Windsor Black Hole. I know at least 15 people personally who tried to escape but failed. Amusingly the guy from my first comment, did manage to escape and is still up in the GTA.
If you're looking for other 360 players feel free to share your Gamertag, it's always good to find more people to co-op or compete against. I'm under Gilvan Blight (like you I use the same handle everywhere, though mine's easier to pronounce).
I wish you luck finding a D&D group. I see you are already checking the right places, so I don't have too many more suggestions. If you don't find one right away, don't give up. Places like Hugin and Munin, Game City and Rogues Gallery all usually allow you to put up a poster stating you are looking for a game or players for your game, and that way seems to get people.
Lastly, I have to ask: you state "I actually saw this site before this little encounter and didn't think much of it". What didn't you like, and what can I do to improve it?

Hey everyone, Well, I am old and out dated. Now 39 to be exact. I got back into models with my kids. They wanted some scenery for warhammer. One thing led to another and I ended up making a website called Modelers Attic. I have all sorts of bits for RPG, D & D, Warhammer and more. Not the typical stuff though. I make furniture, doors, walls, shelves, thrones, and more. All of it goes with 25mm up to 30mm characters from all sorts of games. I have sci-fi and fantasy stuff. It won't help win a battle, but it looks cool. The more I do the better I get, sculpting wise. I do it all myself from the sculpting to the website, so don't expect to see a awesome website or pictures, or paint jobs. Although I do get lucky sometimes, and do a good job. I do all this mainly because it is fun. My real job is the phone company. Used to build equipment. Been around the world, and I have a wife and 3 kids. I am as laid back as can be. So if you need anything let me know. Clay Crutcher www.modelersattic.com

My name is Ryan Costello, Jr. Up until a couple of weeks ago I lived and gamed in Montreal. But school brought me and my new wife Tina to Western Ontario, where I will be getting my teaching degree at University of Windsor. I am a Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 loyalist. I have a D&D podcast, 3.5 Private Sanctuary, with a friend of mine that I've role-played with in Montreal for the past four years, Jason Dubsky. Now Tina and I are looking for gaming in our area, ideally players interested in playtesting the Pathfinder RPG Beta. We're also looking for gaming stores that still carry 3.5 material. The only gaming store we've found is the one in Devonshire mall, and it really did not seem like a lively place when we passed. I'm also a Warhammer 40 000 fan, although I haven't painted or gamed regularly since just after 40K 4th edition. Now that we're away from friends, family, and our IRL social circle, I thought it would be a good time to get back in the game.

Greetings Ryan! Welcome to Windsor. The local game store that you need to check out is Hugin and Munin. They do still have some 3.5 D&D. Unfortunately they are getting out of 3.5, so they will no longer be carrying it. On the bright side, all of the old stuff is currently 30% off. www.huginmunin.com/ As for finding a group take a look at this part of the forum: wgamingresource.proboards40.com/index.cgi?board=lfgas well you could try posting something in store at Hugin and Munin.

Greetings Ryan. Mellenium Comics also stocks WotC stuff exclusively as far as RPG's go. I haven't been in there in over a year though so I have no clue if they have any 3.5 stuff left. Their address etc. is on the local shops page: www.mnsi.net/~moeandde/wgr/shops.html In our Trading Post section, Fundinstrongarm (one of our memebers) is getting rid of some of his 3.5 stuff having upgraded to 4th edition. Regarding Warhammer stuff, Hugin and Munin was a local retailer but have since gotten out off it and will soon be stalking Warmachine and Hordes instead (with the GW stuff that they have left on Sale). There's a GW store at the mall. Other then that the best places I know for GW are over in the states or up in London (RIW in Livonia and Imperial Hobbies in London, again on the Local Shops page). There's a local Warhammer club also, I'm sure you have seen Lichmaster's posts in our Miniature and Tabletop Gaming section.

Hugin and Munin... will soon be stalking Warmachine and Hordes Dangerous passtime, hope they don't get hurt. Unless you meant stocking. ;D Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I have everything fundinstrongarm's selling, but I will check out Mellenium Comics sometime soon.

I did mean stocking. If you read through enough of my posts you will find out I have some type of full word Dyslexia, I don't mess up the letters nearly as much as whole words, which of course doesn't even get caught by the spell check when I remember to use it.
I think the worst was a review on Shadows over Camelot when I was talking about a Knight being a Traitor and put that one of the Nights is a trader. My wife still teases me about the 'evening merchant' for that one.

My name's Julia, my husband is Steve. We moved to Windsor a few months ago from Montreal. We're both primarily tabletop gamers, with something like 40 years of gaming experience between the two of us (25 for him, 15 for me). We both mainly GM, but also enjoy playing when we get the chance. Mostly we wind up playing story/rp-heavy D&D, though we've played many other systems at one point or another, and we're pretty open to trying new systems as well. We also enjoy board games. We have a three-year-old, so our schedules aren't as flexible as once they were, but we'd still like to meet some fellow-gamers and make friends. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Welcome to the WGR Curtana.
Unfortunately the board seems to be going through a huge slump with no one posting anymore. There are quite a few lurker's around and hopefully the post count will start to go back up, so I encourage you to continue to check in from time to time.
Our little one is only 15 months old but she has definately cut into our gaming time. We're lucky to get a game in every two weeks anymore.

Thanks for the welcome :)
Yeah, a game every two weeks is about what we manage now - I run a D&D game online over mIRC with some of my oldest gaming friends (like, people I gamed with in high school, now strewn across two continents) as my players. For the first year after our son was born, we basically didn't play at all, apart from occasional one-shots or mini-campaigns. But the hobby is important enough to us that we didn't want to just let it slip away, so we've made an effort to get back into things since then. For a while we were up to a game a week, alternating between our two campaigns, but now that we've moved here we're back to just gaming online. But we would really like to meet some gamers in the area, even if a game doesn't develop immediately :) Want to arrange a playdate for the kids? *g*

As I've suggested to quite a few other people here, the best way I've found to find gamers locally is stop in at the local shops. Hugin and Munin hosts Roleplaying, card and board gaming events, Millenium Comics does Cards and Clix, Rogues Gallery does Clix, and I've noticed Game City at the mall has tables for gaming (though I've never seen anyone actually play anything there). Info on all these places is on our local shops page (Ignore Windsor Gaming Center they have gone out of business and I haven't had a chance to update the page yet). www.mnsi.net/~moeandde/wgr/shops.htmlBit busy to try to fit in a new game ourselves. I play in the RPGA games at Hugin and Munin (which I strongly recommend) and run a 3.5 campaign myself. A play date could be fun sometime in the future though when we have more free time. EDIT: I tend to forget about the Evil Empire. Games Workshop has a shop at the Mall too if you are into Warhammer miniature gaming or Lord of the Rings.

Yeah, I've been to Hugin and Munin - nice store, had a nice chat with Ian at the counter, but there was no one else there in the 45 minutes or so I spent there. As for the others, I'm not a cards or minis fan. But, like you, I don't actually have time for a new game right now anyway. I just want to meet some people who share my interests and make some new friends, because right now we don't know anyone here at all. So if you did have time for a little playdate/get-to-know-you hour or two, that would be very cool

Well I just put something up in the local events that you may be interested in as long as you can get a sitter (as I'm pretty sure the pub doesn't allow kids at night). A group of us were getting together monthly to enjoy some chat and simple games at a local Pub. Over the summer interest declined and I cancelled the monthly events. I was thinking it was about time to set something like that up again. If find this type of event is great to meet people on Neutral Ground. I know many people who aren't comfortable inviting people over to their homes they have never met before (my wife being one of them) and this gives people a chance to meet each other, and then from there set up future games, events etc. I've put forth the idea of this gathering being on November 7th. You can get a bit more details here: wgamingresource.proboards40.com/index.cgi?board=local&action=display&thread=6036&page=1

Hi,
Im Harvey from Malaysia. I play 40k, Flames of War and almost starting a fantasy army, i also use to do some RPG ( vampires, D&D...it was along time ago when i was in Uni). I'll be moving to Winsor maybe by next year around febuary or march. i was very happy finding this site and knowing there is a healthy gamming community around.
So where do you guys game? is there a club?. I do know that there's a games workshop store around, but what about other retailers or shops?
May be we can hook up for a game of 40k or flames of war when i come there, looking forward to it if its possible.
Cheers Harvy

Welcome to the WGR! Please don't be discouraged by an aparent lack of activitiy, we get a ton of lurkers who only pop up when they have something specific to ad, and it's not an indication of any inactivity in the local gaming community. The best place to find a game is Hugin and Munin the main FLGS. You can find out about other local shops on our shops page, but as far as RPGs and minis go there really isn't much else. Unfortunately no one locall does Flames of War. The closest retailers are know are about half an hour away in the US, or about 2 hours away in Canada (those shops are actually also on our local shops page). It just doesn't seem to have taken off around here. There is also a Warhammer/Warmachine club located in Windsor run by one of the members on here who goes by Lichmaster, if you look through his posts you can find a link to their site etc. Link to the local shops page: www.mnsi.net/~moeandde/wgr/shops.htmlLink to Lichmaster's last post (there is contact info for the club in his siggy): wgamingresource.proboards40.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=mini&thread=6064&page=1#14567

Hello.
I've been out of the gaming loop for quite some time and have recently decided that I want to get back into it. I used to play Cyberpunk 2020, Changeling, V:tM and then played a lot of freeform stuff on-line. Y'know the type were you're essentially writing a novel with a few other people, but only from your character's point of view. As a kid, every friday, my family would sit around the dining room table and play Hero Quest. That game rocked. My mom was the DM. Heh.
I've lost contact with the people I used to play with, save one. However, he's more into the Warhammer thing, while I'd like some good ol' fashioned D&D. He pointed me into the direction of this forum. He also mentioned a friend of his did some D&D stuff at pubs and such, so I'm assuming this is Gilvan Blight.
While perusing through the forum, I noticed a lot of people who're into the whole D&D thing are playing 4th edition. I'm more into 3.5 ed., myself, and don't own any 4th edition books. I would love to get involved in a game (perhaps some Planescape?), but my work schedule changes weekly, so it'd be hard for me to be somewhere at the exact time and day every week. My D&D knowledge is fairly rusty, since I haven't played in years and even then, I'll admit, I was never really, really into it when I played it. I was mainly the girlfriend dragged along. Now, however, I have a stronger interest in playing. The most of D&D I've done in years now is play some Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights 2 on my Xbox and PC respectively. I have to admit, I can't wait for Dragon Age: Origins to be released (They're going to be releasing a pen and paper version of the game as well. That'd be fun to play, I suspect) and really wish they'd stop pushing back the release date.
Well, I think I've introduced myself enough. Thanks.

Welcome to the WGR nickeecoco!
Glad to see a fresh face. Unfortunately we seem to be in quite a bit of a lul in activity lately, so you probably won't see too many posts (though I wish there were more). We seem to have a lot more lurkers then posters.
I don't know of any 3.5 games looking for players currently but you could try checking out Hugin and Munin and talking to Ian or Duane there and see if they know of any games starting up.
I also suggestion checking out 4th edition as part of RPGA games going on at the store every Saturday. They DM (fundinstrongarm on here) and players are all more then willing to teach someone the ropes plus they are nice short one off sessions, so if you can't make it every game it's not a big deal. Currently Fundin is running Level 1-4 adventures every other Saturday.
Other then that, thanks for joining and good luck finding a game.

Welcome Geoff. Not sure if you have seen the posts by Lichmaster, but he runs a local club called The Chosen Realms. They play Warhammer fantasy and 40K as well as Privateer Press's Hordes and Warmachine. I've heard very good things about the Privateer games and you may want to check them, and the Chosen Realms out. It looks like their next club day is June 21st and I know the first time you go is always free. There is a link to their forum at the bottom of the post: wgamingresource.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=calendarview&thread=94There are also a couple of Warmachine tournaments coming up you can find in our Local Events Section. If you at all interested in trying out some good boardgames (generally games a lot better then your typical Life and Monopoly, often called eurogames) I suggest coming out to our next Games and Grub event on the 13th of June. wgamingresource.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=local&action=display&thread=6366&page=1#15339

Hi all!!! My name, if my user name doesn't give it away, is Victoria! I moved to Windsor last summer to go to St. Clair, and wish I knew about this site sooner! Non-gaming mumbo includes that I'm studying interior design, have a small zoo in my small apartment, am freakishly tall for a girl, love camping and adore staying in bed as long as possible each morning. I am a casual gamer... I have experience on all consoles to date, love board games (cranium, partini, baulderdash, etc) and card games (euchre, rummy, hold 'em, etc) I do not have much experience with tabletop or pen & paper type rpgs but it is something I might be able to get into providing the company is willing to teach. My typical weekend generally involves hanging out with friends having a few drinks, playing games and/or music! I look forward to talking with like-minded gamers! I would love to meet up with others locally too, so if your circle has room for one more - ohai!

Welcome Victoria!
Please excuse the deadness of this forum. Not quite sure where everyone has gone. We still get over 50 visitors a day, unfortunately most don't take the time to actually post anything. Please don't let this dissuade you though.
If you are interested in meeting other gamers and learning other games I suggest checking out one of our semi-monthly gatherings. We are having one this Saturday at the KofC on Walker Road. We usually get between 8 and 12 people out and play a variety of board and card games.
If you are interested in trying out a pen and paper game I suggest getting into either the Living Forgotten Realms games run at Hugin and Munin or joining another game hosted at the store (I think there is a GURPS and a Warhammer game either just getting started or starting soon). Talking to Ian or Duane at the store is also a good idea as they often know of groups looking for players.
